I have met a few during my years But there are also many foreigners based in Thailand, who are retired, have resources and assets, can travel overseas whenever they want, and live life on their own terms. That's not trapped. That's having choices. They may not have anything in their own native country to return to, but they may not want or need that and that doesn't mean they are trapped. It's a big world out there. Lots of options.
