A 55-year-old man was fatally stabbed, on 13 October 2025, by his nephew during a land dispute in Bang Khun Thai, Ban Laem District, Phetchaburi Province. The victim, Mr Supharerk “Redah” Sinsawat, was found dead in the middle of his shrimp and seafood purchasing yard, with multiple stab wounds to his chest, torso and arm. The suspect, Mr Anan Emawat, 48, surrendered to police at the scene with a 1.5-metre long glaive and a one-foot long sharp metal scraper used in the attack.

Witnesses reported that the two men were relatives involved in a long-standing dispute over ancestral land. Following inheritance division, access issues arose between the properties, leading to repeated conflicts over pathways and property boundaries.

According to a witness, the fatal incident began when the suspect verbally provoked the victim while he was receiving shrimp from villagers. A physical altercation ensued over a long knife, during which Mr Anan drew a sharp metal scraper and repeatedly stabbed Mr Supharerk. Neighbours were alerted and police were called to take the suspect into custody.

The suspect has been formally charged with murder and authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack. Police emphasised the ongoing need to resolve family disputes through legal channels rather than violence.

The whole land department should be modernized.. With papers and stamps and all old fashioned way of work it is hard to know who owns what.. Besides that everybody can buy land without a notary or lawyer but all person to person, which is a ground for fraud... Why not as in many other countries, only change land by a lawyer or notary so that is clear stated who owns the property, and who is allowed to work on it, rent it or whatever...I have a same issue near my house.. A mother with several rai of land died, and the eldest son is not willing to give the land to his siblings, but use it for his own purpose..Troubles are there almost every day as one of his sisters has cows, but she is not allowed to let them on her own inherited land...I know there will be a day that the daughter of this man will built a house on it...and pretends it is his land.. and the poor sister can't do anything about it.... Should be impossible if the land was divided according to the laws, but Thailand likes to have problems
