Letting off steam after what many have described as a genocide.

These instances of drugged up Israelis will just get more common. Chabad will open more Chabad houses and promote Israeli touristm. For this year Israeli arrivals grew by 25%.

Israelis have a major drug problem. Here is LeMonde on how it came about:

More and more young people, after completing their military service (three years for men and two for women), chose to spend several months in India, a highly psychedelic pilgrimage that served as a gateway to working life in Israel. A subculture that normalized the use of "soft drugs" gradually took root.

Israel topped the global cannabis consumption charts in 2017, with 27% of its population having smoked it in the previous year (and 41% of 18-25 year-olds).

With over 100,000 patients registered by the health ministry, Israel has the world's highest proportion of users of medical cannabis, of which the country is also the world's leading importer. However, since 2020, Israel has also held the unfortunate global record for per capita consumption of prescription opioids, with fentanyl at the forefront.

They probably have seen some horrific scenes during their tour, dead and injured children under rubble, dead bodies everywhere and maybe some had killed Palestinians.

Having them in public with Thai and tourist children everywhere is not ideal.

For safety’s sake probably best they are off the streets, fined and then deported.

Yeah, so as self-appointed dictator of the Universe, you have just created a new law.

Any soldier who has been traumatized by war should not be allowed to vacation outside their country.

I think at least 500 times before.

So probably only about half a kilo.

I never was arrested on it for annoying others.
A little consideration for others goes a long way.

It's all very well to give in to your base carnal and narcotic desires while being blasted by German techno music, but I doubt they did it at a moderate volume.

So, you don't oppose them taking of drugs , you oppose them being Jews .

Not at all.

As long as they don’t annoy others they should be fine.

I know technically it was a war but most of those unarmed starving women and children lining for food were not exactly fighting back.

Militarily it was very one sided.

i hope the peace deal holds but the big downside for us is they will be coming to Thailand in very big numbers.

Leave the Palestinians alone but annoy the Thais.

I thought I made it clear I opposed their disrespectful and disruptive behavior.

"normal" doesn't mean anything.

5% of people do drugs maybe?

5% of Thais and non-Israeli tourists do drugs maybe.

Being in the military is stressful, so they are letting off some steam. doesn't excuse it, but that's the way it is.

No need to emphasize that they are Israelis.

No that's quite false. It's important to note that they are Israelis. There have been a string of incidents with Israelis of late, which is a result of Chabad having embarked on a drive to build Chabad Houses in Thailand, and they promote these venues. Hence the inordinate influx of Israelis in Thailand. An increase of 25% per year.

So this will only get worse. We could all live in an Israeli ghetto soon, surrounded by Israeli soldiers with PTSD high on amphetamines and cocaine. Already one Chabad house in Chiang Mai and one in Pai. The north will be encircled by Chabad soon.

What's more these Israelis are the world's largest consumers of weed AND opioids.

But Anutin says "not a problem", the people of Pai are exaggeratinng. Perhaps the people in Ko Phangan also exaggerate?

Everyone is sick of the brutalities in the Middle East.

But feel free to get it out of your system if it makes you feel better.

Your sentiments are in the right place, but there are no laws preventing these soldiers from traveling abroad.

And they are not above the law in Thailand. They will pay for their actions.

You skipped over the possibility that they are hopeful they will not have to return and be ordered to further participate in the killing.  I would find that a reason to celebrate. :jap:

as any veteran will tell you the end of an conflict would be a time to celebrate.

You are not wrong there.

I think the is the fifth thread on this forum about Israelis in Thailand just this week.

And they have all had a common theme being disruptive and breaking laws.

Reported in the National newspapers and on public channel TV.

Have there been any incidents regarding Isrealis in Chiang Mai?

I don't recall reading any on here. Not that I follow all the news in Thailand, though.

But you live there, right? And if you didn't read in the papers that there was a Chabad, you probably wouldn't even have noticed, right?

But is there something specific about Pai? It's remote and hasn't it always been a destination that attracts a drug hippie crowd? Weren't there plenty of non-Israeli tourists illegally doing drugs even before weed was legalized there? What's the history and culture of tourism there?

I think you're blaming it on the Chabad houses, but it may have more to do with Pai itself.

What are you stalking the Isrealis or something?

Weed is legal in Thailand, isn't it?

And there's a thread on AN every day about weed smoking, so it's not just Israelis consuming it.

Ridiculous.

Yes, and it's not just Israeli soldiers, also Israeli women, who act in disgusting ways.

Since Thailand has embarked on a drive to lower drug consumption it would be sensible to impose a blanket ban on Israelis. However, Thailand can't do that of course with the economic clout of investors beholden to Israel that would have major economic consequences, reduced foreign investment and highly negative press. Perhaps this is the cause of the hounding of Thailand in the Daily Mail, the fact that Israelis were arrested by Thai police? Would not surprise me.

3 minutes ago, save the frogs said:

Completely false. I didn't learn of the Chabad house in the press. I was walking down a street in CM one day and saw a very strange looking person with long black locks on either side of his face, wearing a black hat, and talking with a uniformed Thai policeman. So I looked more closely and it was a Chabad house.

But yes, I've not had any negative experiences with jews personally in CM, only positive ones actually.

One thing is that Pai is extremely cheap, which appeals to a certain class of very cheap people. And it is scenically beautiful. Pai police is very notorious for their harsh enforcement btw, they don't tolerate drugs openly.

Why was he "strange looking"?

Because he doesn't dress and comb his hair like you?

You've never seen a Hasidic Jew before?

More of your tropes.

I rest my case, your honor.

Exactly, because both Pai and Ko Phang An have always attracted hippie drug users ... which is why I never had any interest to visit these places.

I am bracing myself and adjusting travel plans accordingly.
