Yes

Are they dangerous then?   I genuinely don't know.

If not, and if it's nowhere near your home, why not just leave it alone?

No, I'm not a "tree-hugger" - just see no point in killing for the sake of.

Those things have a pretty good sting. Kill on sight and spray around the house, especially after the rain those buggers come out from under concrete and rock. Though not dangerous, stings like a bee.

I see - thanks. I've never seen one - I presume where you live is fairly rural.

Where we live in Lampang is rural, though on a hill where it’s dry and rarely see any there. The house in cm is semi rural on a flat close to a small creek, all kinds of fast moving vermin.

I had one crawl over my arm when I was staying at my ex wife's mom's house as our house was being built. 8" plus. My friend here had one pinch him while he was working in his yard and his hand blew up twice the size. A cousin was pinched on her leg and it also swelled up. Worse then the local scorpions by far. I don't want them in the house but they do kill other insects.

Thanks guys - I've learned something today 👍

You have never seen one in Thailand ? they are everywhere, even in cities

last week, I see 4 of them in my compost : very dangerous and painful animal

I have killed already several of them, the animal I fear the most here with the cobras

I live upcountry but you find centipedes and snakes everywhere, even in Bangkok

Well the OP mentioned seeing one "...6 or 7 inches long, anyone seen one this size 13""

I've seen the smaller ones on Phuket and in Pattaya but never one that length which was what my question referred to.

The ones i've seen have always been outside and away from my accommodation.

Seen a couple of snakes when Hashing and once, visiting a friend in Uttaradit, we were walking along the river Nan and spotted 2 scorpions, which i gave a very wide berth.

Glad my friend warned me to wear boots not sandals for our walk!

Yes, the one on the  picture is very long, never seen one like this

centipedes can be in the house, bed, gloves, shoes , bathrooms, around houses, flower pots , anywhere ...

They can move VERY fast on a tiled floor - I had to jump up on a chair in Phuket when one came towards me at lightning speed!

How about this one??, article said they can live for 30 years or so if not bothered, supposedly this was found in Vayama Deep

Water Port near Sattahip back in the seventies.

I have seen the same or maybe the same sort of picture, taken in Vietnam during the  war  ( the guy on the picture could be a soldier )

They like to hide under quiet, discreet places: stones, planks, flower pots, clothes. I saw a video of a young Indonesian woman hunting them to eat them after cooking. She caught them, barefoot and by hand, and because she got many, she had a very big  smile: incredible!

They scare the hell out of me because they are so fast.

I nearly died from a Bee sting.

Got them in Bangkok too, could end up in hospital for a bit.
