Yearly Extension directly on New Passport

Featured Replies

I entered Thailand with a new Passport with the non-immigrant O (Thai Wife) stamp (and reentry permit) in the old passport. My current extension expires on 5 December 2025.
Can I go to Chaengwattana and apply for the extension directly on the new passport? do I need to fill the "transfer stamp" form anyway?

Can I get a single queue number for both services? (or even better can I book online appointment for the extension and use it to do everything?)

Alternatively, as I am in the process to get a LTR visa (they require to transfer the visa stamp to the new passport before proceed), I could just transfer the stamp without doing the extension.

How much an Agent charge usually for this service and can it be done without me going to the Chaengwattana in person? If I have to go in person anyway I would prefer to process the yearly extension too (as the LTR isn't sure to be approved yet or it may take longer than 5 December)

Thanks

When did you enter, which date?

Yes, and yes.

You can to do the transfer at the time of the extension. But if you need to do a 90-day report prior to the date you do the extension, at CW you will need to do a 'standalone' stamps transfer first, before being allowed to do the 90-day report.

Yes, this is good, and probably better than doing it at extension time, anyway, as you 'lighten the load', doing it at extension time. Just get it done and out of the way, not bad.

I don't know, others may have info on that. But I imagine they are going to want you to appear in person for stamp transfer to your new passport. You, both passports, completed form, other copies of the usual--both PP front pages, last extension, entry stamp, last 90-day, TM30 possibly, entry card (if you have one), etc.--and for CW your bankbook associated with the extension and copies of its activity the previous year. Might be more, there's a checklist in the forum. But maybe an agent can perform the service? I don't know.

OP, you are making easy difficult.

Go to CW and have transfer of stamps completed.

When extension is due make an appointment and attend immigration.

Note that for transfer of stamps... If you are doing extension based on retirement CW io wants to check your bank book for financial compliance.

They want updated bank book and photocopies back to last extension.

The OP in this thread posts link to required form + requirements.

My point is that I dont want to go CW twice... so my main question is if I can process the extension and get the stamps transferred to the new passport with the same appointment/queue

1 October 2025

So I dont need to do a 90-day report

So I think I will book an appointment online and do everything on the same day, thanks!

Here is a thread.

Read post from @Tod Daniels after my first post.

Immigration may very well make you obtain stamp transfer first.

Not at appointment for extension slot.

Also regarding appointment at CW for extension, take note of post from Upnotover where he stated....

"Book it soon, they are full till 20/11 right now (new appointments added daily)"

You start looking as soon as window opens and bookings are added daily.

FWIW : I would try and get extension appointment for afternoon and attend immigration a.m for stamp transfer.

Still better two separate visits or agent.

Of course io might be helpful and allow you to transfer stamps at the time of extension appointment.

Not a certainty

I just booked an online appointment on 7 November (they had a few random time slots available before 20 November)

Strange I got this for Nov seconds ago.

One day with only 2 time slots.

11am or 2pm

He's right.  You like me looked at "retirement" dates, whereas "family" currently has more availability.

There were even a few more dates (I think was 7/14/18 nov) available (just 1 time slot each) when I did it 30mins ago... guess they got claimed fast and I was lucky

Ah, yes it's for marriage visa

Just out of interest, how long was it between getting your new passport and doing your extension?, is there a set amount of time that transfers have to be done?

2 minutes ago, DrJack54 said:

No.

Must be done prior to obtaining an extension.

Ok, but as per my quote, the poster did his at the same time as his extension, not prior. So if i received my new passport next month, but my extension isn't due till April, i could leave it 5 months to change stamps to new passport?. Immigration wouldn't ask why i had left it so long?

Thanks. So how does it work with 90 day reports if my stamps aren't being transferred for 5 months?. Do i hand in both passports when i do my 90 day report?, will they not then ask me to transfer them to be able to do my 90 days?, what about re- entry permits too?

Pretty much any dealing with immigration will trigger need to transfer stamps.

What's the big deal.

Go to immigration and have them transferred.

New pp comes around once every 10 years.

My last transfer (about 18 monts back) I waited till I need to do 90 report (due to short trip abroad) and did both on same visit

Which office?

At CW, if you are attempting to do a 90-day report with both passports, you'll be directed to get the stamps transferred to the new passport before being allowed to continue with the 90-dayer.
