Doner Kebabs

Featured Replies

Hi,

Does anyone know of any restaurants, pubs, etc selling UK style kebabs here (or Krabi for that matter). I really miss them and haven’t yet managed to find anything similar to what we have back home. I’ve never seen lamb as an option, only chicken or beef. The chicken ones I’ve tried are OK but still not quite the same as you’d get back in the UK - good pita bread, the classic sauces, salad, etc.

Many thanks for any suggestions.

Lamb is to expensive I told by a couple of people doing kebabs on the markets, as for Donner kebabs there is a couple of places advertising they do, Im not going to name names here, but they are rubbish, one when I got the kebab it was full of salad and salad cream hardly any meat, I left it and never went back to the place.

Next time if I do find a place I will ask for no salad, just meat, see what they say, so fo now it's chicken kebab's,

Tried many but most you can forget.

A decent one you can get in old Central from Tops. They have  beef in shavarma roll with a spicy sauce.

Learn to make your own. You won't ever go back to a shop bought one.

I marinate the meat with coriander, garlic, chillies and Indian curry powder and olive oil for a day and then roast it in the oven.

I make my own houmous. Freshly baked pita bread from a local supplier. Pack the pita with the sizzling meat, houmous, chopped tomato and cucumber and pour over a yogurt sauce(made with yoghurt, coriander seasoning) made earlier and a little lemon juice.

Nothing you had before can compare.

Feel free to send a private message informing me of these establishments so I can also avoid them, for kebabs at least, because I’m still on the search and there doesn't seem to be much out there.

Salad cream with a doner kebab is an arrestable offence! Haha.

Especially watered down, My wife wanted to try one, I think she was waiting to see what mine was like, so she still didnt get to try, I cant think of the name of the place, it's on the way out of Chalong to Rawai on the left if it's still there,

I cannot imagine any local would produce a yoghurt based sauce. Especially as they would have to keep it cool somehow. So you are looking at sweet 'mayonnaise' or something similar.

It's not the kind of food that I would order in Thailand. Small amount of meat, some shredded salad and some strange sauce in a half a wrap. No thank you.
