I first came over in `97 , they were just putting the foundations in for the skytrain down Sukhumvit . I remember when we were landing the captain said " Welcome to Bangkok , the temperature is 41 degrees " when the airport doors open , there`s that hot humid wave of air with the unique Bangkok smell . I`d never been further than Europe and it really had a big effect on me . I never wanted to go back to the UK ...ever .

But that was then , with 75 bt / £ 1 . Soi Bua Kao was just a dirt road lined with ramshackle bars . The whole place had a relaxed , easy going feel , not like the present day where everyone looks stressed with an eye on the bottom line and where the next baht is coming from .

Your situation of alternating paying for meals only works if the net worth of both individuals is equal.

Western women mostly make good salaries.

But most women here don't.

If your net worth is 10 times what your Thai gf's net worth is, it doesn't make sense that she's paying equal.

It makes more sense that you allow her to squirrel her small salary away for a rainy day and you pay the lion's share. Otherwise, you're taking advantage of her. 

At least that's my take.

God made women to be a companion to men. Not to be looked at as objects but equals. This is something we learn from our first male role models, or dads. Freddy has wandered into many relationships here and his recollection and understanding of the dynamics are not reality. Freddy seems like a good guy but "his" reality always gets in the way.

 

 I'm far from a saint and have had the pay for sex and semi traditional relationships here in Thailand.  I just do what feels good at the time and have had few regrets.  Many are constantly chasing the next hottie and can do this for decades which for me became a bore. Couldn't imagine this happening 25 years ago but at 58yo being with one woman is ideal.  Have almost no desire to find the next perfect hookup.

The odds would not be great, so I am happy with my choice and life. No, I didn´t adjust anything actually. after I went over 03-35 I´ve never felt the need for 19-year-olds, as the interest gap will be too big, and there will be nothing to talk about or useless conversations. I just found a woman in an acceptable age according to my own preferences, and it has been working very well. 🙂 

Malcolm, is nothing more than a whoremonger who will end up very sad and lonely in maybe a decade. might even consider moving back home to get the care he will eventually need.

I can assure you I'm not. Whilst there are indeed women aged 45 that can still be passably attractive, ie retain a rest, a semblance of attraction, they are a shadow of who they used to be.

 

No matter how good a woman is at 45, a woman at 25 will always be VASTLY ,VASTLY more attractive, always presuspposing both had an equal attraction level to begin with of course.

Have I, at any point, suggested that it will or even should work for all women?

If you are continuing the conversation, then I suggest that you actually read what has gone before, prior to you replying.

I mentioned that I do not choose poor women that 'need' my money and also that the GF is not Thai. So your premise failed on all of your points.

To add to that, I also wrote that if they have more more than me, we share 50/50 and if they have less, then I pay more.

You really should pay attention before rambling on aimlessly. Nothing of what you have written applies to my situation.
