Wise - why the difference ?

Featured Replies

Last week I sent some £ to my KTB account using my £ balance with Wise . As usual , the transfer completed in a few seconds and I got an email saying the money is now in your account , with a trans number and a link to a receipt .

Yesterday I sent the same amount but wasn`t asked about the reason for the transfer . Later I got an email saying your money has been sent and " it`s on it`s way " and a link to find out how long the money would take to arrive . No link to a receipt .

The only difference between the transfers was the time of day , the second one was sent at 04.20 GMT , the 1st at 08.40 GMT . So , does it make a difference what time you do the transfer ?

Recent changes means it now defaults to the last transaction reason, but is still changeable if you look closely for it.

In my experience, UK to Kasikorn, it makes no difference, time, day, holiday, reason, 90%+ arrive in <10 seconds.  Occasionally when it's slower I get an estimated time for the transfer, which often gets later, but I never had a complete failure or a delay of more than 1 day.

What was their estimate for yesterday's transfer?  Did it arrive?

Just checked and it does show in the account , so no problem there . IIRC after hitting the send button it said something like your money will be sent in 51 mins . Still no idea why it was any different , as usually it says the transaction completed in seconds .

Look at which banking partner was used, details at the bottom of the transfer confirmation pdf. It's a choice of Kasikorn, who are quick, and Tranglo who aren't.
