Patong police arrested a 36-year-old Kuwaiti national, on 20 October 2025, for possession of crystal methamphetamine and overstaying his visa. Authorities seized 0.74 grams of the narcotic during the arrest at a hotel room in Soi Nanai 8. The suspect was immediately taken into custody and transferred to Patong Police Station for further legal action.

The arrest followed a police operation targeting illegal drug activity in Patong. Officers discovered the suspect’s expired visa during the investigation, adding an immigration violation to the criminal charges. The seized substance is classified as a Category 1 narcotic under Thai law.

Police confirmed that the Kuwaiti national now faces two charges: possession of a Category 1 narcotic and remaining in Thailand after his visa expired. The case highlights ongoing enforcement efforts in tourist areas to control drug use and ensure compliance with immigration regulations. Local authorities have emphasized that such violations are treated seriously, with legal consequences for offenders.

The suspect will undergo legal proceedings at Patong Police Station, where the courts will determine penalties for both the drug possession and overstay offences. The case may also prompt further scrutiny of foreign visitors in Phuket to prevent similar incidents.

0.74 grams. :stoner:

There has to be a better way to control overstays other than being arrested for something else first.
