Twenty-three people were arrested following a prolonged standoff with Irish police during a third night of protests in Dublin. Demonstrators attacked police with fireworks, stones, and debris, resulting in two Garda officers being hospitalized. Hundreds gathered near the Citywest Hotel, housing asylum seekers, following an alleged sexual assault incident on Monday.

A 26-year-old man appeared in court on Tuesday in connection with the alleged assault of a 10-year-old girl. The protests led to serious disorder, with the police promising a "robust response" if violence persisted. Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan confirmed multiple arrests and vowed that more would be made, emphasizing the Garda's professional response to the unrest.

Police officers faced off against protesters with shields and protective gear after initial officers were attacked. Protesters hurled masonry, flares, glass bottles, and other objects, with vandalism occurring near the Saggart Luas tram stop. Additional public order units were deployed to disperse the crowd, and some protesters were detained when attempting to flee.

Garda Commissioner Justin Kelly, visiting the scene, reinforced the commitment to hold offenders accountable. He stressed that the violence demonstrated intent to intimidate and harm. Taoiseach Micheál Martin condemned the violence, stating there was "no justification" for attacks on police.

Key Takeaways

  • 23 people arrested after a violent standoff with Irish police.
  • Justice Minister and Garda vow continued action against offenders.
  • Taoiseach condemns violence, reiterating no justification for attacks.

No. It's a reaction after the sexual assault of a young girl.

Everything that goes against the globalist elites wishes appears to be "terrorism" these days, even if it's just a twitter post.

It would appear the Irish have had enough of the cultural enrichment.

Perhaps diversity is not their greatest strength after all?

The Irish, who constitute perhaps the planets largest diaspora.

That would depend on whether any military installations  were targeted

So let me get this right Nick.

It’s not terrorism if the target isn’t a military installation?!

    That sounds about right .

They would also need to be supporting a group that has engaged in terrorism , like Palestine did (engage in terrorism)

It looks the Irish have had enough?

Unless the UK Government act quickly and stop all the boats, start deporting more illegals, detaining any new arrivals, close the migrant hotel etc, this 'rioting' is going to spread?:whistling:

Is your impertinence deliberate ?

How about an opinion on the topic at hand, rather than offering incendiary and conflationary nonsense ?

Logical fallacy only appeals to & finds favour with the similarly obtuse.

And who overwhelmingly integrate into,  live peacefully within, contribute to and often fill a leading role in the various societies in which they live.

Come now chaps, let us be fair, such cultural enrichment and understanding diversity is a nuanced business!

Those of us who are politically and socially unsophisticated (like what we am) really should not allow our views on sexual assault on a 10 year old girl colour our reaction! You fail to understand that in this chaps home country (from which he is unaccountably fleeing) this child would have been married to her cousin for three years or so already!

It's nice to see that some Irish people have woken up and take a stand against the illegal immigration nonsense that has been tolerated for too long.

Perhaps they could guilt trip the Irish into accepting this?

Talk about empire. Colonialism. Slavery. Oh, wait a minute... 😄
