Your right. Nothing more needs to be said. The "new" Democrats like shutting Trump's govenment down.

Perhaps the 'new' Democrats wish to keep America as a Democratic Republic, rather than a dictatorial wasteland.

The 2025 Dems are Social Justice warriors. This is what their style of far left Democracy looks like , Resistance.

The U.S. Constitution, in Article I, Section 9, Clause 7, states, "No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law". The Founders included this provision to ensure that the executive branch could not spend taxpayer money without authorization from the people's representatives in Congress.

Trump ignores that constantly without any consequences as maga congress has ceded their power.

I was under the impression that the Republicans control Congress, the Senate and the Presidency, yet they cannot persuade any others, Democrats or Independents, to join them? Can it be they aren't good at the Art of the Deal?

All essential workers like military and air traffic controllers should be paid.  Have they stopped paying Congressmen and Senators?  The answer is, "No." Congress still gets paid.

The military should have funds dedicated to the paying the salaries of military members, just like Congress has set aside funds for themselves to be paid during government shutdowns.

Yep - I do.

Notice that Congress makes sure that Congress is paid when the government is shut down.

The Democrats wanted this shutdown to fire up their base.

The Republicans control both Houses of government and the White House.

C-o-n-t-r-o-l. ALL of the government.

And you want us to believe that the shutdown was caused by anyone else?

Congress has ceded its power to dear leader.

This is what the END of American democracy looks like.

With Its Tail Between Its Legs, Congress Cedes Its Constitutional Responsibilities To President Trump

www.forbes.com/sites/andrewtisch/2025/04/09/with-its-tail-between-its-legs-congress-cedes-its-constitutional-responsibilities-to-president-trump/

A tectonic shift is occurring in the balance of power among the branches of the federal government. The legislative branch is ceding more of its power to the executive branch, and the judiciary may not be equipped or inclined to stop it. It could upend the balance of power that has stabilized our government and sustained our democracy for almost 250 years.

Over the decades, Congress has been slowly giving up its leadership responsibilities, which have been enabled by leadership in the Democratic and Republican parties. Presidents of both parties — including George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden — have increasingly filled the vacuum with more assertive executive actions. Now, however, the Trump administration is moving more aggressively than any president in at least a century to assert powers that were long understood to be delegated to the U.S. Congress under the guise of a mandate by voters.

An uneducated comment. Republicans need 60 votes in the Senate to pass a bill and they only have 53 of the 100 seats so at least 7 Democrats must vote yea for the clean CR to pass hence it's the Democrats keeping the shutdown going.

This has been happening since FDR and you are just noticing?  The libertarians have been pointing this out for decades.    The writer of this article should be punched in the face for just noticing this shift.

Yes, the dems passed the CR in march and the far left got pissed.  So, now they decided to "fight" Trump.   Dems are lame.

Sorry, but you have to ask this of the Republicans in Congress.

They are the ones in control (C.O.N.T.R.O.L. ) of the government today.
They are the ones who make the rules, right?
How could it be Democrats shutting down anything? Democrats are NOT in control of the government. The Republicans are.

it takes 60 votes in the Senate to move the bill.  The Republicans have 53 Senators, which means they are 7 votes short to pass the CR.

Do you now understand?

Don't you mean 'at least 7 Democrats' need to lose all sense of decency' and vote to keep millions from effective health care?
Sorry, that's a Repub goal.   🙂

The ACA is broken.  The dems passed the temporary subsidies during COVID with zero Republicans votes.  They dems set the date for these subsidies to expire at the end of 2025.

Yes. I understand completely. The Democrats don't want to see Americans harmed by this bill and will not vote for it.
That is very easy to understand.

The Republicans don't give a damn about the health care of Americans, and so they want to push this bill forward.

Sorry, but someone has to care about America.

These subsides are expensive.  This not the type of thing that should be put on the national credit card.  The ACA is a total and complete failure.

Did yuou not understand my very clear post above? You obviously have no idea how things work in the US Senate. Republicans need 60 votes and only have 53. To keep the government open 7 Democrats must vote yeh to pass the CR. As it is they have four so only 3 more Democrats need to vote yea to reopen the government. This is very easy to understand.

The dems certainly don't care about the future.  The future is bleak finically with all these bloated social programs.   The old people are passing on a huge bill to the future.
