He actually did that, as telling them they will both lose trade with the US had them think, it isn't worth fighting when we will lose a lot of money. Living right near the border, with rockets hitting close to my house, I was relieved when he made that statement, as the rockets stopped soon afterwards, and are still silent.

Trump was very well received and is popular. He had a meeting with the Emperor, with whom he is very cordial. And also met the new PM, who is starting her tenure off with a bang. International meetings, The Donald coming to town, etc. She has handled it all with grace.

Not exactly what she said if you listen to the speech in the original Japanese. She was talking about reviving Japan's strong cultural independence and standing up to China/North Korea/Russia.  

She is a cool chick, lots of experience, was welcomed like a rock star at ASEAN. A welcome change from the past few Prime Ministers, who were all squishes and too infatuated with being accepted in the "international community".

Trump might physically be in Japan, but his mind is definitively not along for the ride. He gets lost in a room full of people 3 times in 1.5 minutes. This kind of rapid mental decline is not something his handlers will be able to manage for much longer.
