Your house.....?

the resident <deleted> talknig forum pest is online.

but yes, the rented house I have lived in for many years, I call my house.

To me Cambodia still has some bad ju ju going on from the past. As silly as that may seem, it's true.

For me I could come up with some better options. But that's only superstition talking.  If you like Cambodia.....good.

My misses just arranged a 3 bed detached house in our gated village just outside Chiang Mai for 6,500bht a month ($210).

Partially furnished, big Aircon in living room, hard to beat that!

I thought a man of your age would own his own home by now ,I am shocked

I don't own anything in Thailand.

My wife has 1/2 a mountain in Nan, a rice farm in Petchabun and 2/3 of a house in Chiang mai.

I just have money and pensions, easy to move countries if I feel the urge.

I'm not sure I have a heart, and I definitely don't have a hat.

But unlike you, I do have a document stating I'm sane.

Most people living in poverty are uneducated, stupid, lazy, or have mental illness.

I can think of 100 ways to make significant money wherever I am.

And there you are making nothing ? Thinking is one thing, but execute what you thinking is something different. And Im talking of experience. 3 companies one successful which left me with some money to retire early, but it took a tall on my physical body and sanity 😉

making a successful business takes dedication, discipline and time if you not lucky to have some kind of skills and being there right there and then when it is booming and then there will be not be any limits before the marked is saturated if that is the correct way to say it.

Making money in Thailand ? Possible but you need to surround you with good dedicated people. I could make millions if I wanted to invest millions in my wife, but I will not do it, even I trust her with my heart. There is a limit for everything, and as long we live a comfortable life, we keep it that way for now.

I retired from full time work at 45 and from all work at 52.

I never worked hard, and people lined up to overpay me for sitting quietly and thinking.

I could have retired at age 23, but greed kept me making money for another 22 years.

Looking back, and considering everything, I wish I'd never worked beyond age 23 ..........

If your keyboard is rented too, I would exchange it if I were you.......🤭

If parking 38k USD in a Thai bank is a burden to you after retirement... you have made poor life choices.

If you don't understand the difference between 38k in dead money, and 38k earning 10% a year in tax advantaged investments, then that statement is probably a projection.

I would like to hear from our Cambodian expats here on ASEAN forum

And I know there is many of you and thankyou for your service

I haven't been since 2016 ,where I had pickpocket kids try to steal my money on that Riverside area but that's another story

Did you live in Thailand before perhaps and decided in all algorithm that Cambodia was much better for ?

Well ... financial reasons ? Girlfriend reasons ? Visa reasons ?

Work reasons ?

Do English teachers go to Cambodia?

Who knows?

Why did you choose Cambodia,do you love it ,do you hate it ?

Do you have a history interest ?

Do you like Phomn Penh or Siem reap ?

What about Sihanoukville, use to be popular never hear much of it now

Or what the "new" kep.... something?

Songs about Cambodia Lost in Cambodia by Kim Carnes

Cambodia,formerly known as Kampuchea

Now becoming a big Chinese global Empire with casinos etc

Oh the magnificent history of this place

Oh when I first went in 2004 the Phomn Penh was a dump

Now look at it

A beautiful read .... fascinating.... interesting CAMBODIA !!!!!.

You seem to have a tale or 2 to talk about in each country you visit

Maybe you should start a poll as to which tale is more tragic.

So far, we have alleged pickpockets in Cambodia, Ladyboy and monkey run-ins in Thailand, what did Laos offer you?

Though interestingly, you retired from work at the same age as my mum.

I saw my mum working so hard and understood that life was not for me. Also her generosity and lack of greed.

That's why I do not exploit or cheat or ever accept a woman of lower standards than my mum 😊

Sounds good and similar to my life. Why the shop and restaurant?

The shop for my wife to have something to do during the days. Makes her feel like having more value, and she gets to learn how to manage all from shop to people working etc. Also gets, in Thai measurement, a decent salary. The restaurant, for me as I am a chef and bar/restaurant owner from Sweden many years ago. But mostly she manages that one too as I have my Webdesign & SEO agency to run. It´s also just a block from home, so very convenient both for us and the children, as they can go back and forth as they wish.

Have work permit for our main company, that lets me be active in all sectors as we have 6 Thai people employed, plus my wife

Again, direct your reply to @Yagoda I have no connection to the things that he asked, neither do I have any interest in the things that he asked. Hence, my redirection to someone with knowledge of the situation. I hope that makes it clear.

It seems to be taking a long time to get through to you.

What? Are you trying to get through to me? Are you doing that by acting like a coordinator referring different persons to different members?

Now I will get through to you. Take you referring capabilities and open up an affiliate system and let me and other members decide who we speak or reply to on an open forum.

Did it stick?

What is this dull nonsense? Are you having a brain aberration?

If someone asked if anyone knew about web design and I referred them to you, would you be writing the same 💩?

Please deal with your mental issues privately, rather than to expose them on the open forum.

I referred him to you as you were the person I knew who seemed to be in a normal relationship. But it seems that you are not at all normal yourself. Calm yourself down or just go away.

This thread is about Cambodia, could I perhaps invite the intellectual members on here into the thread to bring it back in track

I'm fascinated by the Cambodia of the 1980's . . Is the foreign correspondent club still in PP?

One of the horrible things in Siem are the begging children and amputees

In SR it was common to see beggars with very young children with that enlarged head health condition, back in 2009

You dont see the sick children gig too much, except on line at the Childrens hospital. Its the beggar kids running around the bars that are the annoyance.

Of course, but I guess it would take quite some time to understand Cambodian culture to the point wherein you might attract a decent partner.

If you're an old man you aren't going to attract anyone

Of course money, but he is playing the I don't pay for it card

I don't see any reason to live in Cambodia over Thailand unless you get kicked out of Thailand or want to move out so not over 180 days for tax purposes
