Options for METV Border Runs

Featured Replies

With the Cambodian border runs still closed from Pattaya to Ban Packard and back, I'm looking into what other options are available. I'm not thrilled with the idea of 12 hours by commuter van to Laos, out and back at immigration, then another 12 hours back in the van. Are there any agents in Pattaya providing flights and visa service to Vietnam or Malaysia and back, same day? What is everyone else planning this year that used to rely on a same day visa run to Cambodia and back?

Agents will meet you at the border.  Just ask them.  It won't save much (any) money but will avoid the bus ride.  But with a METV why not just fly somewhere nice and have a short holiday, that's what it is for after all.

Here farang in Korat with a regular METV TDAC visa. Usually went at Chom Chom, go and come back same day. Now gotta go to Laos and the closest border is in Ubon, Pakse. I see all Pattaya agencies operate out of Savannah. I'm undecided between these two.

sorry for the big font size.

The first step is understanding what on earth you are actually talking about.

There is no "regular METV TDAC visa"

Do you have an actual multiple entry tourist visa that you applied for, paid around $200 for, and received from the Thai embassy that is valid for 6 months?

Did you enter with no visa at all?

The TDAC is not a visa and has nothing to do with visas.  It's an arrival card that everyone that is not Thai must do every time they enter Thailand. It replaces the old paper TM6 card, which was also not a visa and had nothing to do with visas.

Answer is yes.

I read about recent new visa rule but with my Visa I think (hopefully) I wont have any problem.

My question is which Laos border to use. I will go by bus from Korat to Ubon Ratchatani. Hope I can entry and go back from Laos in the same day as I used to do at Cambodia border in Chom Chom. My nearest point is Pakse, but I see most  travel agencies use Savannaketh.
