Bangkok Police Busts Glamorous Drug-Fuelled Sex Party

Bangkok police stormed a high-end hotel suite, decisively breaking up an extravagant event known as the Golden Mine Party. Led by Police General Kittirat Phanpet, the incursion culminated in the arrest of several partygoers involved in drug use and other illicit activities. Over 50 officers employed a discreet approach, entering via the hotel's rear entrance to ensure the operation's success.

The crackdown saw various individuals, including 35-year-old Thaweepon, charged with possession and consumption of drugs like methamphetamine, yaba, ice, ecstasy, and ketamine. He also faced accusations of distributing inhalants. Alongside him, 34-year-old Phongsakorn was charged with possessing ecstasy, while 27-year-old Krityach faced possession charges and persuading others to use drugs. Furthermore, 31-year-old Stiwannit was implicated in drug use.

Officers seized a significant stash comprising 1.11 grammes of ice, two yaba pills, a bottle of liquid ecstasy, and 0.75 grammes of ketamine. Other items confiscated included two boxes of Viagra, 30 bottles of poppers, drug paraphernalia, and used condoms, painting a vivid picture of the scene. Prompted by local tips, the police acted as part of General Kittirat’s strategy to combat drug activity in tourist hotspots.

Undercover operations led by Police Colonel Theeradej Thamsutthi infiltrated social networks to pinpoint the party's location. Officials discovered 29 people, including 28 Thais and a Filipino, mostly in scant attire. Subsequent checks showed four tested positive for drugs, and three had substances in their possession, reported The Thaiger.

The detainees were taken to Lumpini Police Station for further processing, while 25 additional attendees are under questioning. Police Colonel Yingyos Suwannano has begun documenting those involved. Deputy Police Commissioner Theeradej issued cautions regarding the misuse of poppers, initially intended for medical use but now abused illicitly.

Earlier in the year, a similar high-profile bust at a hotel in the Watthana district made headlines, involving 124 partygoers and culminating in numerous drug-related arrests. Links to past organisers signal an ongoing issue in the city's party scene. Police Lieutenant General Siam has ordered exhaustive investigations to maintain public confidence.

Key Takeaways

  • Bangkok police dismantle a luxury drug-fuelled party, making several arrests.
  • Substantial amounts of drugs and paraphernalia were seized at the covert operation.
  • Ongoing investigations with prior links to similar events earlier this year.

Without mentioning anything too specific, the OP has subtly inferred that this was in fact a soiree for gay men.

Oh dear!  I certainly hope no one was involved who members might recognize.

yeah, it was rather vague and focusing more on who they caught with drugs and the women they arrested. So perhaps there is more to this story that is being deliberately ignored.

Either way, Only 4 women tested positive for drugs so the claim about being a drug fuelled party is not accurate. More than likely some attending the party had brought drugs and a few women used them.

What happens in a hotel room should not be a concern for the police unless they are disrupting the hotel itself. It does not matter if the women there were prostitutes. 80% of the hotels in Pattaya have men in the rooms with prostitutes. Probably a 40% of the single male tourists in Bangkok also have this. Why should it matter to the police that this room has many women in it? how can they prove the woman went there for the purpose of prostitution? Did they see the women getting paid?

And if so, did they catch the women in the sexual act getting paid for it?

I interpreted this news article as a gay party.  Was unaware women are into poppers.  Read it’s a gay thing.

Similar to the one that was posted numerous months ago.

Perhaps one of our more prominent members can give their opinion as a subject matter expert.

Yes, it seems to have been a gay party.  That's why the article states that the police entered via the rear entrance 🙂
