Normally renew extension myself but thinking of using agent for

Featured Replies

Hi,

I usually renew my retirement extension myself at Nonthaburi Immigration, but this year I won’t be in Thailand during the 30-day renewal period. Therefore, I’m considering renewing it about 50 days before the expiry date through an agent in Pattaya, using my own 800,000 Baht, which is always maintained in my account.

When I return to Thailand, I plan to file my TM30 at my usual address in Nonthaburi and then continue renewing the extension myself at Nonthaburi Immigration the following year.

Is this arrangement feasible, or am I missing any important requirements?

Thank you.

You might inquire with your immigration office.  Sometimes they're willing to make a one-time exception for an early extension.

So , in your opinion you don't think it's feasible?

That's his only chance.

Not the plan he outlined.

A flight ticket with a "storyline" might help.

While Nonthaburi has become less horrible in recent times I don't think they will do it 50 days early.

At CW where it's already 45 possible then he hopefully could do it 50 early

Don't like it at all.

The Pattaya agent won't deal with Nonthaburi immigration.

Just filing a TM30 upon return won't cut it.

@BrandonJT has provided sound advice.

At a guess immigration will say no.

Plan B could be exit and obtain a Non O eVida while abroad.

Messy but an option.

Reports from CW Bangkok indicate they ask for 2 years bank-statements, instead of one-year, to verify you didn't use an agent for the last visa which they did not issue.

Nonthaburi is not a friendly office, so they might push further - "Where did you stay in Chonburi (Pattaya)?" proof of such requested, or similar.  It's unpredictable.

Showing you had the money in the bank the whole time - since the last extension they issued - is likely to work, but no guarantee is possible.

I presume you are aware, if you leave the country your extension will be cancelled ? please correct me if I'm wrong.

You just have to make sure to get a multiple entry permit for it.
