Is Smart Water sold in any stores in Pattaya

Featured Replies

Do any stores sell smart water in Pattaya?  It might be an expensive import and only stores like Tesco, Friendship, Macro or others would carry?  I am not seeing it in 7 11 web searches at the moment.  It really is a good water product and is my go to drink

you are entitled to your opinion but many world class athletes are discovering and showing that some of the contents in that water such as bicarbonate work very well.  helping in Neutralizing acidosis If I understand the papers

your opinion is noted.  The bicarbonates in it have been shown to be beneficial.  Tastes much better than basic pure water

Americans are gullible types.

In 2018, Smartwater was awarded the German Goldener Windbeutel ("Golden Windbag") anti-award by the consumer rights advocacy group Foodwatch Germany for "the most brazen lie in food advertising" that year. The group said that Smartwater is "nothing but ordinary water" sold by advertising a "scientifically-sounding but completely unnecessary production process" which yields no proven nutritional benefits, for as much as seven times the price of regular water.[18] The product also won the Dutch Gouden Windei ("Golden Windbag") prize that year.[30]

The Coca-Cola Company repudiated the criticism and said that it followed all applicable food labelling regulations in a transparent manner, that Foodwatch had nominated Coca-Cola in order to attract attention to itself, and that "the success of the water with consumers proved that they liked the product for the taste."[31]

I am not interested in other's opinion, pros or cons.  Please do not clog up this post with that.  Please only comment if you can answer my original post asking if smart water is available in Pattaya.

Again, only my opinion obvs, anyone on even a half decent diet (in the absence of specific medical issues) has no need of any herbs, supplements, special waters, or magic potions of any kind.

Smartwater is not available in Pattaya. You may find it in Thailand’s larger international supermarkets (like Gourmet Market, Foodland, or Villa Market) in Bangkok, but local searches show no clear listings for Smartwater in Pattaya itself. Most convenience stores there (7‑Eleven, FamilyMart, Big C, Tesco Lotus) stock other bottled water brands such as Singha, Crystal, Nestlé Pure Life, and imported premium waters, but Smartwater doesn’t appear in their current inventories.

Never heard the term before.

Seems a protected brand-name?

So I consulted WiKi.

"Smartwater is manufactured by the process of distillation.[16] This process removes most inorganic impurities, such as naturally dissolved minerals, but may let low boiling-point organic matter through. Afterwards, certain mineral electrolytes such as potassium, calcium and magnesium are added back.[17]x"

If that's all it's indeed a big marketing lie about healthy benefits.

Bet that magnesium is magnesium oxide which serves as a laxative in higher dose and 10% actually absorbable for the body.

Thailand has a bunch of electrolyte drinks etc. Would have to compare contents to say how different it is.

They sell it in Malaysia. You can stock up if you ever go there on holiday.

While I agree with your general assessment, saying "it's not inherently healthier than tap water" in Thailand may not be true?

Very true......apparently the water purity is high in metropolitan areas......when the water leaves the water treatment plants.......after that I imagine it is a bit of gamble as to what comes out of your tap.

Living in the sticks we certainly don't drink from the village well.

You do know, that the world class athletes you hear talking about it, are paid to make commercial, right?

Not true I am afraid. The nutritional quality of intensively farmed food is now so much lower than previously  - ie when crop rotation etc was still in use - that unless you make a huge effort to source high quality organic food you will often end up deficient of some trace elements, vitamins etc. I am not a fan of supplements for their own sake but a "half decent" diet just doesn't  do the job any more, sadly.

Ah ha!......so the Yanks know exactly what they have to do......clever.

Lower nutrient density means people must eat more food to get the same vitamins and minerals,

Vapor distilled water with added electrolytes.  More like Smart Marketing to suck premium prices from Dumb Consumers.

More steak and liver it is then.

You are actually both right.

"half decent" is vague though
but to myself it would already mean organic only,
"decent" is meat based
A diet with any processed or packaged food is a "bad diet" IMO

Here's a fun fact for you

Water recycled at a Sewage Plant comes out crystal clear, no smell and it is alleged you can drink it

Spray it on a hot truck exhaust and it stinks like a dirty urinal on a hot day :omfg:
