Squirty cream out of a can - living the dream!

Amusing to see who gets upset by a little dessert.

It's only 6 minutes of work on the laptop which I'm sure you'll be relieved to know 😛

I will visit berthold delicatessen at the sindhorn kempinski hotel and compare. That's meant to be a nice place. I'm sure you can't wait 🤣

Oh to be you, said absolutely nobody ever 🤭

I'm doing great thanks. I love running my successful business.

I'm off out for cocktails. Hope you have a great evening lol

2 days of this forum is enough for me.

Logging off and may pop back next year.

All the best.

Cocktails on your own though is no real fun is it? I've noticed from your photos and comments of all these wonderful events you have attended - you seem to be on your own.

What was one comment? 🤔 Oh, I arrived before everybody else...

Enjoy your cocktail (singular). Should be a cheap night. Will leave you plenty leftover for ONE slice of overpriced cake. Enjoy.

I very enjoyed Christmas in Pattaya.  The stores and malls were very festive and everyone seemed to be in the Christmas spirit.  Christmas parties in the bars were top-notch, but restaurant Christmas dinners tended to be mediocre.

I dressed up as Santa and made visits to orphanages and children's centers. Together with my girlfriend, I organized donations for these places.  Her female friends were extremely generous in their giving.  My girlfriend found out what staple food supplies one place needed and she and about 10 of her friends then bought enough stuff at Makro to fill the cargo bed of a pickup truck.

The kids got a real thrill from seeing Santa and getting presents.  I was surprised they knew so much about Santa.  One little boy even asked me where my reindeer and sleigh were,   My girlfriends said the explanation was "cartoons on TV."

I have very fond memories of those Christmas visits.  Even if you don't dress up as Santa, a donation visit to an orphanage or center for underprivileged children is a great way to get into the Christmas spirit.

Some more Christmas pics from the visits  ...  The kids really liked the plush toys Santa brought them.

Red hot, price of a turkey is ludicrous and the fact that christmas day isn't recognized as an official holiday all add up to the less than optimal experience imo.

This year I'm spending christmas in the alps with my brother Chris, whom I haven't seen for a while.

Can't wait!

Eric.

You mean Stressed Chris?

Absolutely hate christmas back home.  In Thailand it's much more enjoable.  All the good parts about it, like giving presents and having fun.  None of the dumb religious stuff or any of the guilt trips about how you need to be with your family eating too much and being bored to death.

Also, Christmas is just another day in Thailand so just about everything is opened, so no need to be rushing around buying stuff just before or whatever.  Just a much more relaxing and enjoyable experience all around.

You do know  that Xmas is quite literally a 'dumb' religious event don't you ?

I’ll be going to Vientiane this year, where the Christmas vibe will be bumping along zero.

’ works for me.

Christmas trees, decorations and music already at the malls.  It is the season of joy and goodwill to all.

well a lot different than it was in the 70's.  I was here with my family, didn't see any xmas decorations, nor hear xmas music.  I do think that the Central Dept store on LangSuan had a xmas scene but that was the only Xmas thing I can recall.  We bought a scrawny pine tree for our daughter to decorate.

Yes, I love Christmas in Thailand. Just another day, everything is open as usual and no fuss over a meaningless day that is based on solar worship in the later Roman Empire, 25 December being the winter solstice in the Roman Calendar. Jesus was probably born in April, according to most scholars. Now 20 years with no Christmas to celebrate, it's great! Unfortunately, the shopping malls and other outlets are trying to cash in on it.

Yeesh!

Eric.

Are you working in Thailand? Most of us probably aren't worked any day of the year.

Wow, someone voted down my innocuous plans to go to Vientiane to see some friends on Christmas.

Have we reached peak pettiness?

Xmas? (yawn)

Same drivel every year. Capitalism on overtime.

Apart from silly songs at Lotus, nothing here in the provinces, thank goodness.

A much bigger yawn for me is the annual rip-off New Year nonsense which is inflicted on us exactly a week later - and not just here in LOS either, sadly. If only 1 January could be declared a normal working day worldwide, as it was in England before 1974.

Lemme guess, you do not celebrate the circumcision of Jesus either ?

We get into the spirit of Christmas as we have done for years, my wife loves it, Go walk around Central Phuket see all the decorations and take loads of photo's for my grand daughter back in the UK, There is a restaurant in Floresta that has turkey so we can have a Christmas dinner, couple of glasses of wine, exchange some small presents.

Just ordered one of these off LAZADA....

Gonna be a white one, this year.

Have done it many times.  Love it.  I remember years back when so many many of the girls would wear red,  Sitting semi outdoors at the Lek Hotel buffet on a warm December evening was great. The LEK hotel  used to have real turkeys being carved, not turkey sliced press meats was fantastic and enjoyable.

I don't do christmas

I come to Thailand only over the dry season for a few months, so I enjoy Christmas. I go to Bangkok for Christmas week, nice hotel near the Erawan shrine, lots of good restaurants, fun put on by the big department stores , silly dancing and lights. Then a 5 star meal in a good hotel, with all the trimmings, seafood, turkey, Yorkshire mud and Xmas pudding . A good bottle of wine and that’s great for me. I love the Thais’, singing western Christmas carols , especially the little ones, and the way they are open to other religions that are not at all like their own.
( I could do without * jungle Ben* playing in the supermarkets non stop!)

Where we go in Phuket, they also have full turkeys and people order turkeys for take aways, Last year was the first time they had sprouts I think I need to teach them how to cook them, they have everything else, pork, ham and pulled pork so you can have a selection of everything,
