A man was shot dead in Kalasin province on the night of 15 November 2025 after a domestic argument escalated into violence, leaving local rescue volunteers and police responding to a fatal scene. The victim, identified as Mr Thara aged 40, was pronounced dead at a house in Tambon Lak Liam, Namon district. The suspected gunman, his 26-year-old nephew known as Suea, remained at the scene after the shooting.

Rescue volunteers from Ruam Jai Namon said they received the emergency call at 21:20. When they arrived, they found the victim with two gunshot wounds to the chest. Police and hospital staff from Namon Hospital were also dispatched to examine the scene.

According to the suspect’s mother, long-standing tensions existed between her son and his uncle, who had “been having issues for a long time.” On the night of the incident, the uncle allegedly provoked an argument while the family was sitting outside the house with other children. The dispute began after the nephew prepared a spicy salad (yam) for his uncle, who reacted angrily and scolded him for bringing a dish he disliked.

The suspect’s mother reportedly told her son to feed the food to the dog if the uncle refused it. After hearing this, the uncle followed the nephew back towards the house, confronting him and grabbing him by the collar. Both men pushed each other, escalating the confrontation.

The nephew then went inside to retrieve a homemade .38-calibre firearm. The uncle reportedly tried to deflect the weapon, causing it to fall to the ground. The nephew picked it up again and as the uncle ran towards him, allegedly fired two shots at close range into his chest, killing him instantly.

Rescue volunteers stated that the suspect fled briefly on a motorcycle to dispose of the gun by throwing it into the water from a bridge linking Ban Lak Liam and Ban Non Ying San. He later returned home, told his mother of what had happened and waited for police to arrive. Authorities secured the scene upon arrival and the body was transported for further examination.

Amarin reported that police are continuing to gather witness statements and forensic evidence as the investigation proceeds. Further action regarding charges and the recovery of the discarded firearm is pending. The case will move to formal legal procedures once evidence collection is complete.

Totally understandable. The spicy salad is very important in Thailand. it must only be given to the ones who like it, as well as it must be made with the right amount of pepper for each individual taste. People have been shot for much less. 😉

This is like a Waffle House story from the U.S.  Patrons fight over the last waffle, piece of fried chicken, or slice of watermelon and the next thing you know one of them is dead.
