Validity of Certificate of Residency

Featured Replies

I obtained a CoR on 22 October as I will need one when I sell my car. Car is still unsold so my question is what is the validity of a CoR for Department of Land Transport

The validity of a CoR is one month

I understand In the DLT requires proof of address from both the seller and the buyer.

Nope - thats a common bit of misinformation thats circulated.

Having sold a number of cars and motorcycles - I've never needed a proof of residence to sell...

Certificate of Residence / Affirmation of Residence / Certificate of Address - whatever people want to call it, is only necessary for registering a vehicle in ones name - a CoR is not needed to sell a vehicle.

The buyer (if not Thai) will need a CoR in their name to transfer registration into their name.

The transfer can take place at the DLT or with the right paperwork you can just sign the vehicle over without the need to go to the DLT.

>> Caveat: At DLT in Bangkok.

Your point.. Albeit quoting from AI..

: "A Thai letter of residency, formally known as a Residence Certificate, is an official document that confirms your address in Thailand"

Most searches in AseanNow refer to "certificate of residence " COR.

Not important.

You get 'erked' rather easily !!!  -   worry when something significant happens !   :whistling:

Doesn't matter what its called 'exactly'  -    its important that everyone knows whats being talked about.

Makes mental note to self.

Every time I read extension based on retirement I need to correct that it's an extension based on being over 50 and one requirement is not working in Thailand.
