Visa process assistant and advice for DIY O visa

Featured Replies

1. Looking for a Thai person with experience who can help me with the preparation of paperwork and onsite assistance at the Chiang Mai Immigration Office (NB. I am not looking for an agency as I am going to do it myself).

2. Any advice/tips re. obtaining an O visa extension by myself much appreciated.

TYIA

So looking for a friend with benefits,. Tis OK, we understand!

So you already have a Non-O or you're looking to get one and then extend it later?  Presumably based on over 50 (i.e., Retirement)?

Doubt it will be easy to find a Thai "Visa Process Assistant" who isn't an agent.

Do you have a Non O visa based on retirement and looking for advice to obtain 12 month extension?

If Yes then you do not need an agent.

The process is simple and many threads on this with advice.

Firstly clarify what stamp you actually have in your passport

You easily can do it yourself. No help needed to fill out the paperwork, it’s as elementary as it gets.

True.

The OP, it seems has previously had a Non O-A so good guess he is asking about extension to a Non O retirement or Non O-A.

He needs to clarify his situation

Personally I go to the CM IO a few days before and get the paperwork there at the tent form box in case there’s any new forms or changes in the tm7 or the acknowledgment forms. There was a new form this year that wasn’t in the form box (tm11?) that was given me by the queue checker before going in the IO. Also will need 4x6cm photo, photo copies of every stamped page in passport (two copies of each just in case), bank statement, updated bank book including photo copies of every used page. Proof of residence, tm30, yellow book. 1900฿ cash. Bring everything, rental agreement and whatever just in case. Get there early and get a queue number for the tent, the first queue box in front opens at ~7:30am, queue checkers start at 8:30am, once the queue checker validates your documents they’ll ask you to return at 13:00 depending on how crowded it is you might get in earlier, and wait in the office for your number to be called. Today would have been a great day for the IO since the rain tends to scare people off. It’s a piece of cake, just don’t let anything mess with your zen.

Not really. You adopt "pack kitchen sink" Method which is exactly what you do.

For example for many years I never provided TM30 for extensions CW.

Now I do. Get one just prior to attending immigration for extension.

Think you may have skipped "Bank Letter"

Not sure about CM however this can be obtained days prior to extension.

Correct, bank letter. My bk bank branch knows what’s needed, so it’s a bit of a breeze there.

That's what I love about Trat IO, the lady, tells me to come back in 2hrs, she has already filled out the forms, all I have to do is sign them

totally agree that if you are just getting another or a 1-year extension then at CM it is fairly simple and no agent needed.
