A 27-year-old Russian tourist was found injured in South Pattaya’s Walking Street at 03.35, on 20 November, prompting an emergency response from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan rescuers and Pattaya Special Affairs officers. The man, who was shirtless and wearing only shorts, was bleeding heavily from a head wound after being struck with a hard object, possibly a bottle. Bystanders assisted him until rescue teams provided first aid and transferred him to a nearby hospital.

According to rescue personnel, the tourist was unable to fully explain who attacked him due to intoxication, but stated it was an unprovoked attack by a group of Thai me . Witnesses reported that he walked unsteadily along Walking Street before collapsing beside the road. One motorcycle taxi rider who came to his aid said he did not see the assault occur but noticed the tourist’s blood-covered face and immediately contacted rescue teams.

Rescue staff advised the injured man to file an official police complaint once medically stable. Officers are expected to review CCTV footage from surrounding areas to identify how the incident unfolded. Authorities stressed that securing clear evidence will be essential for tracing the individual or group responsible.

Police will now focus on gathering surveillance footage, interviewing witnesses, and piecing together the victim’s movements prior to the assault. Further steps will depend on his formal complaint and the clarity of the evidence collected.

  • Drink as a skunk. Unable to explain... It was unprovoked.   Sounds credible.   His unworthy appearance alone is a provocation.

Yeah. Looks like he deserves a bottle over the head. I have seen these types walking on the street shirtless in Chiang Mai, flexing their muscles and trying to look tough. Such an embarrassment.

I wonder if he was the one who was found with his shorts pulled down and his buttocks exposed.  A Thai woman said something along those lines, but it wasn't clear when it happened.  As someone already posted, it had the hallmarks of a katoey attack.

If the council and the police were serious about protecting tourists and locals, they would set up and fund a central CCTV monitoring centre and direct police patrols to possible incidents, as they do in the West. Also body worn video for the police would help.

All the readiness inspections in the world will not prevent one instance of harm or detect one offender. CCTV here only used after the fact when the harm already done. Pathetic.

Just another Russian. So what? Right? Just trouble obviously.

biologicaql waste found its thrill. what's new?

Yep, supposedly in the last 10 years something like 150, 000 of them have moved into Phuket.

They run illegal businesses, and all need a car (or two), thus the cluster truck traffic.

My old school Russian friends, some of the first I saw settle in Phuket are polite and great peeps, but many of the 150K are not.
