Are you overweight? Obesity is such a killer of longevity. I'm not overweight at all.

  • I'll be 92 in a couple of weeks. 80 kilos. Eat what I like in moderation. No meds. Just lucky, maybe.

  • Good for you. We're glad to here that. You'll probably get snuffed crossing the road while looking in a mirror and patting your self on the back instead.

  • How many kilos could you stand to lose? About 55 kg would be great. She's from Isarn, with a quick wit and a sharp mouth. Any takers, please DM 🙄

Limbs naturally shrink and lose muscle with age, and many people end up losing weight rather than gaining it even when they are eating normally. At your stage in life a little extra weight can actually be helpful because it supports strength and provides energy reserves, while being underweight can point to frailty and make recovery from illness more difficult. If you want to gain a bit of weight, adding some extra calorie dense foods like peanut butter can have a profound effect.

No problem with overweight. More of a activity problem, and the kilos are setting in the wrong places. According to general health seen to length and weight I should be 90kg, but I am only 80.

Went to a buffet yesterday.

But only ate clean foods and that was my only meal of the day.

There were a couple of morbidly obese guys there. These guys must know every buffet in every city they visit.

Is it even necessary to go that low?

Maybe around 10% is ideal?

Not being overweight is not necessarily healthy.

I was reading an article recently, it's waist circumference is the indicator for health

Sorry, but my belief is that being overweight is always unhealthy. But I think what you mean is that being underweight is not necessarily healthy either. That's true, especially as you age. I covered that in my second post above.

Bodybuilders are overweight, they are not unhealthy

Many bodybuilders die at younger than average ages. It doesn't matter if it's muscle or fat. More weight than needed means more strain and wear and tear on the heart and other internal organs. I think anyone above 95 kilos is generally in a danger zone (muscle or fat) if they are in the range of normal height.

And I read one saying that your BMI is an indicator.

For me, being on my feet is a sign of  good health

Yes, BMI has been around for a while now.

I'll give an example, some alcoholics, look thin, but have a beer belly.... This is unhealthy but the BMI indicator says he is healthy

For me, I must say, when the right girl is around, I don't mind being on my knees instead.

Skinny fat. Yes, not good at all. It can easily happen as you age. Even without being a drinker, if you don't stay active enough.

For me to reach my ideal BMI, I must grow 3 cm in height.

That is extremely low but iyt is possible.

I think you are lower than 18 % already ,why do you want to do this?

Competition coming on?

Good point. I often don't even carry a wallet anymore. Most cards and driving license in the phone now. And cash hardly ever needed.

Fasting for 72 hours does wonders for your waist line!

Many body builders die early because of complications with drugs.

In the early bodybuilding days they would take anything that would promote growth without looking at the dangers.

Compared to Cheech and Chong who been using the Lords lettuce and still growing strong.
