Limbs naturally shrink and lose muscle with age, and many people end up losing weight rather than gaining it even when they are eating normally. At your stage in life a little extra weight can actually be helpful because it supports strength and provides energy reserves, while being underweight can point to frailty and make recovery from illness more difficult. If you want to gain a bit of weight, adding some extra calorie dense foods like peanut butter can have a profound effect.
November 23, 2025Nov 23 No problem with overweight. More of a activity problem, and the kilos are setting in the wrong places. According to general health seen to length and weight I should be 90kg, but I am only 80.
November 23, 2025Nov 23 Went to a buffet yesterday. But only ate clean foods and that was my only meal of the day. There were a couple of morbidly obese guys there. These guys must know every buffet in every city they visit.

But I think what you mean is that being underweight is not necessarily healthy either. That's true, especially as you age. I covered that in my second post above.
November 23, 2025Nov 23 Popular Post I'll be 92 in a couple of weeks. 80 kilos. Eat what I like in moderation. No meds. Just lucky, maybe.

It doesn't matter if it's muscle or fat. More weight than needed means more strain and wear and tear on the heart and other internal organs. I think anyone above 95 kilos is generally in a danger zone (muscle or fat) if they are in the range of normal height.

In the early bodybuilding days they would take anything that would promote growth without looking at the dangers. Compared to Cheech and Chong who been using the Lords lettuce and still growing strong.
