Residents along the Mae Sot border in Tak province were startled on the morning of 30 November 2025 when five shells from fighting inside Myanmar landed on Thai soil. Four people, all Myanmar migrant workers, sustained injuries, while one Thai home was damaged by shell fragments.

The incident occurred amid ongoing clashes between Myanmar’s military and anti-junta forces near the border opposite Mae Sot district. The shells, reportedly 60mm in calibre mortar rounds, crossed into Thailand during fighting inside Myanmar, prompting immediate concern from Thai authorities.

Following the report, Lieutenant General Worathep Boonya, Commander of the Third Army Region, authorised the firing of four 120mm smoke rounds as a warning. The Ratchamanu Special Task Force monitored the situation closely and confirmed that the general situation was under control.

Initial checks indicated that two of the injured were a woman and a child, both Myanmar nationals and they were receiving medical care. Thai authorities emphasised that local residents along the border remained under strict protection measures to ensure their safety.

The Thai military has increased surveillance along the Mae Sot frontier, with Ratchamanu task force units assigned to continuously monitor the border. The authorities have pledged to maintain vigilance as cross-border hostilities continue, aiming to prevent further spillover incidents.

Key Takeaways

• Five shells from Myanmar landed on Thai soil, injuring four migrant workers.

• Thai forces responded with four 120mm smoke rounds, and one home was damaged.

• Border surveillance has been heightened to protect residents and prevent further incidents.

Preparing for invasion?

Spillover. Does this mean Myanmar soldiers have no idea how to aim their munitions? So bad that they kill their own people who were most likely working there. The house and area they bombed seem far from the actual fighting.

Burma Army does not care who it kills.
Look at its record of massacring uncommitted non-combattants of all ages and both sexes.  Bombing and shelling schools, hospitals, monastries, etc.  Never was the epithet 'bloodthirsty' more appropriate.

While public indignation has focussed upon Russia's provoked attack on the Kiev regime, scant attention is given to Russian and Chinese facilitation of the massacres occurring in Burma these past few years.
Why such inattention ?
Russia would undoubtedly be more heavily implicated if it were not for its involvement with Ukraine (It had to buy back some AFVs it had sold to Naypyithaw because needed for spare parts).

Close the border...

......and no more grenades will hit Thailand:clap2:

Seems less fuss about live Myanmar rounds than for decades old Thai and Cambodian mines....Thailand had mines on every border Cambodia Lao Myanmar and Malaysia...who planted them. Read this, especially Background.

With their border to Thailand completely closed and monitored their aim might improve

Why is Thai government kowtowing to this murderous Myanmar junta ??

That was a good measured response by the Thai Lt. General.
