“Nothing new is happening. Gmail and Meta have been scanning messages since the mid-2000s for spam, viruses and security — not for humans to read. Gmail even stopped scanning email content for ads bac

The Gospel according to Grok, praise be to Grok:

"No, the claim that Meta will read every message after December 16, 2025, is false; the update is about personalizing content and ads based on interactions with its AI chatbots, not reading private DMs. Your personal messages on end-to-end encrypted apps like WhatsApp remain private, and even with Meta AI, this change does not grant them the ability to read all user-to-user conversations. "

Don't discount the AI hallucination factor . Grok could just as easily be programmed to use denial response to questions on privacy !

The afterthought ps apology for possible error is a red flag in all cases for me.

I started working the IT field in the early 90's where I learned ANYTHING you send electronically is basically the same as putting on the front page of a newspaper so I post accordingly. Facebook swears the chats you send are encrypted. I don't believe for a NANOSECOND they couldn't peek in any time they wanted to but also believe they leave the messages alone without a real reason to want to read them. I've sent a few personal chat messages that would have gotten my account suspended, possibly permanently,  for ridiculing Zuckerberg but I'm still allowed to waste too much time on Facebook.

I'm amazed people actually thought they ever had privacy :cheesy:

I don't know what you had for breakfast but that also has nothing to do with banking app security safety.

I am a software bloke not a business administrator.

You do not know the slightest thing about how software security works but you still bleat on about it as though you do. 😆

You still have not answered why you think you are qualified to talk about such systems with authority, did a plumber or carpenter teach you all you know on the subject, I refer to those trades as you have done in the past.

Nobody, but someone pretending to be a hotshot, mentioned anything about banking apps.

I ask again, what special qualifications or experience do you have to come to such conclusions over the rest of us who are qualified in this area?

It is a simple question which you do not seem to want to answer.

I have said in many replies on this subject here, they have no access to any contents of emails.

If they have no access to the e-mails how do they scan them for viri, malware, scams,SPAM  and naughty pictures/videos etc ???

answer they can and do have access to everyone's e-mail that passes through their server...unless you use an encryption tool  the messages are just plain text  AI  can read them, admin at the server farm can read them  NSA,CIA,FBI,MI5,MI6  Mosad etc etc can all read them too...

The fact you don't know about Googles origins  or even care  says a lot really..totally clueless  despite the degree  😋

I tried discussing the points but the info was ignored, you seem intent on personal attacks so that is a waste of time.

AI does not override these laws, and it doesn’t give companies permission to read your messages for advertising.

Who cares about advertising..its not about them reading mails for advertising bad as that is  its about everything else  that they can and do still read your emails for.

To all of those who believe 'they', 'thems' and 'those' can read the contents of our emails but  then continue to write about it, there does not seem to be much danger, after all they can read everything your have said about them and you are still alive.

I am sure it is very important they know about your trip to 7-11 to buy a pint of milk and a Kitcat, national security depends on it. 😆

As they observe you all on the close circuit cameras after joining a queue for the till, they watch in anticipation, the special forces are on standby, as you reach into your pocket they are saying "stand by, stand by, stand by", you pull out a ten-bob note, they see it, "all clear, stand down, stand down, threat neutral".

To all those who believe 'they' can't read your e-mails..they can and do.

Email is sent in plain text  unless you purposely encrypt it with something like PGP

https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/computer-networks/pgp-authentication-and-confidentiality/

Of course those with 'nothing to hide'  never lock the doors of their house, bathroom or car    and never seal the envelope of a letter

they also post on forums with their real name, date of birth, location and photo  cos they have nothing to hide right ?

There are many that have revealed things and are not alive or in prison  or have had to live in exile....

As long as you don't reveal anything incriminating to 'them'  then you will be fine   talk about your milk and kitcat all you like 'they' don't care but they sure as hell know you talked about it  ...but maybe one day in the near future kitcat is deemed  illegal

(bad carbon credit, too processed unhealthy bad ownership whatever)

Now you are on the list  as a  potential  kitcat abuser looking for illegal supplies to feed your addiction...

say no to the thought police.

Do you think they can find out  if I met my wife in a bar ?

Psychologist Guus van Heck showed in his dissertation that anxiety makes people overestimate danger and generalize fear to unrelated topics. That’s why after reading dramatic claims about privacy, someone may suddenly worry about harmless things like where they met their wife. It’s not a real threat — it’s an anxiety reaction.
