Visa Exemption / tourist visa at Nong Khai

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I've been here since 11th July - (60, 30, 60 and 30). I'm on my 2nd VE - just went to Immigration and they gave me an extension of 30 days to 2nd January.

I'm hoping to get a RETIREMENT VISA with TV Centre next week, if that fails I'll consider in applying for a Tourist Visa at Vientiane. Does anyone know of the website as I'm new to this and how long will it take ?

I've heard all borders are close now.

Will that be OK under the new rules as I'll have been here for 175 days on 2nd January. (RED FLAG plus 2 consecutive VEs)

But new year / history reset ?

OR I might go back to the UK and return around May time & apply for a RV later.

Thank you in advance

https://www.thaievisa.go.th/, takes a few days only.  You have to be there when applying.

Borders are not closed.

Your 30-day extension should give you enough time to process a retirement visa with Thai Visa Centre.

Do you already have a Thai bank account? If they need to help you to open one fitst, better check in with them as soon as possible, as that might require some extra time.

With your history, I'd say going the retirement visa route is the best way to avoid trouble.

Yes, Bangkok Bank. I've heard you got to have a rental agreement as well. TVC will sort one out for a fee, I hope.

Agree with you there mate, my history is kinda RISKY under the circumstances.

I'm with Bangkok Bank.

This could  let down, as I'm relying on my brother to send me the funds over to cover the RV. I hope he comes through - I'm meeting him in Patts 2 weeks time. 🤞 👍

Don't follow with reference to "the funds"

Agent covers financial requirements.

If going to Pattaya you could obtain the Non O + extension with agent there.

As long as you still have at least 20 days remaining on your current permission to stay, we can convert your entry from Exempt to Non-O without any problem.

If you have fewer than 20 days left, we can still assist, though the process becomes more involved and the cost is higher.

To clarify, the conversion itself only takes around 1 to 3 days. Immigration simply requires that you have at least 20 days left on your permission to stay when we submit the application.
