A routine campus patrol turned dramatic when Bangkok police arrested a university student for allegedly carrying a loaded revolver. The incident occurred on December 9 at around 9 p.m., when the 19-year-old was found beneath a university building with a.38-caliber Smith & Wesson, six bullets, and a leather holster.

The student was apprehended at Rajamangala University of Technology, Tawan-ok, in the Pathumwan district. Authorities, including senior officers, arrived later that night to discuss the situation and interrogate the suspect. The student now faces charges for unlawful firearm and ammunition possession and carrying a weapon publicly without valid reason.

Police Major General Chaikrit Pho-a highlighted the discovery as part of the Royal Thai Police’s intensified efforts against campus violence. The institution has recently confiscated six illegal weapons in related operations. Pathumwan Station police, supported by new patrol teams, are proactively conducting searches in high-risk academic areas.

Previous sweeps revealed a cache of weapons at Pathumwan Institute of Technology and the Uthenthawai campus. Officers discovered 13 knives and two walkie-talkies hidden in various spots, including bushes and building exteriors. An additional three knives were found at the Pathumwan Institute.

This operation follows past incidents of violence involving technical college students leading to injuries and fatalities. Police stress the importance of public vigilance and student cooperation in reporting suspicious activities, warning that any disturbances will face legal repercussions, reported The Thaiger.

Key Takeaways:

  • A 19-year-old student was arrested with a revolver on a Bangkok campus.
