A 28-year-old online content creator has been arrested after allegedly shooting a man outside a residential building in Nonthaburi, leaving the victim critically injured. The suspect was detained within hours after fleeing the scene and police have seized items linked to the attack, including a chest-mounted action camera.

Police said the shooting occurred on 14 December outside Muang Thong T6 building in Ban Mai subdistrict, Pak Kret district. The victim, identified as 23-year-old Pranont, was shot once in the chest, with the bullet passing through his body, and was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

According to investigators at Pak Kret Police Station, the suspect, Narongrit, was tracked down and arrested at a condominium in the Bang Sue area of Bangkok. Officers recovered the motorcycle used in the escape, clothing worn during the incident, a helmet, and a GoPro camera worn on the suspect’s chest at the time of the shooting.

Police said the suspect admitted to discarding the modified blank gun used in the attack, which had been adapted to fire 9mm ammunition, from Rama VII Bridge. He told officers the motive stemmed from jealousy, claiming the injured man was the former boyfriend of his current partner and had continued to contact her.

The suspect said he went to confront the victim and ask him to stop contacting his girlfriend, leading to a heated argument. He claimed the victim approached and assaulted him first, prompting him to fire a single shot in what he described as self-defence.

He told police he did not intend to kill the victim and aimed towards an arm or leg, stating the weapon contained only one round. Investigators said the suspect admitted purchasing the firearm through a messaging app group and acknowledged he did not personally know the victim but knew where he lived.

Nonthaburi Provincial Police Commander Pol Maj Gen Decharapee Khongdee led the investigation that resulted in the swift arrest. Police have charged the suspect with attempted murder, carrying a firearm in public without lawful reason and discharging a firearm in a public place.

Daily News reported that the injured man remains under medical care, while police continue to gather evidence, including footage from the body-mounted camera. Authorities said the suspect will be handed over to investigators for further legal proceedings.
