Hungary: Thousands march demanding Orban's ouster

Featured Replies

Tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of central Budapest on Saturday, marching to Prime Minister Viktor Orban's offices demanding his resignation over alleged child abuse in state-run juvenile institutions. The protesters, seen carrying soft toys and torches, were led by Orban's main challenger, Peter Magyar, who held a banner that said: "Let's protect children.''

The protest followed the publication of videos this week showing staff at a Budapest juvenile correction facility physically abusing children.

Prosecutors are investigating the center's former director on suspicion of crimes including running a prostitution ring and subjecting minors to physical and sexual abuse.

Several employees of the facility have also been detained.

Magyar told the crowd that Orban had promised to improve the situation of children, however, "it turned out that every member of the Orban government took the side of the abusers." The leader of the Tisza party has steadily risen to become Hungary's most popular politician, and the biggest challenger of Orban's ruling right-wing populist Fidesz party.

Magyar is leading Orban in most independent polls ahead of elections expected in April next year.

Opinion noted.

Aw right, another color revolution try. But it won't be the same without the enormously fat Victoria Nuland on the ground handing out cookies to protestors and John McCain telling them how the US has got their back.

Come on! You're not fair about Orban!

He can be proud of some quite significant achievements, for example:

The triple crook accreditation!

I follow Orban on X. He totally understands the EUs agenda to flood Europe with 3rd world migrants and he's protecting his country so that's why they hate him.

It's the same playbook every time. Conjure up some allegations, fund a protest with regime aligned shills and try to oust their target.

Also the fact that he hasn't signed on to their proxy war with Russia. And the fact that war's a lost cause now pisses them off even more with Orban.

Every so often I see an interview with Putin which is subtitled. He understands all the existential problems which are killing Europe too. These people are worlds above the drivel you hear from Western leaders and still are able to think in civilizational terms and beyond the next election cycle. It's night and day.

They so badly want to destroy the rest of the countries in Europe which have played along with their plans.

Wait till they get a EU backed government in and Hungary is

overrun by "immigrants/refugees".

Then the child abuse really starts.

everything is degraded on all levels.

I bet Hungary can't wait to get themselves some amazing diversity like London has!
