A Chinese national wanted by Interpol for a billion-baht investment scam has been arrested at Thailand's Suvarnabhumi Airport. Huang, 44, attempted to leave the country using a fake Mexican passport under the alias "Gol," but was detained by immigration officers. Officials discovered his real Chinese passport, confirming his identity and international fugitive status.

Huang is linked to a cross-border scam that defrauded over 500 Chinese victims out of more than 1 billion baht. Despite holding a legitimate Thailand Privilege Card visa, he used a false identity, raising suspicions. Thai immigration worked with the Chinese embassy in Bangkok, verifying his involvement in the scam and confirming his wanted status by Chinese authorities.

Huang reportedly fled China in 2020 through an illegal border crossing and operated with a criminal network in Myanmar. This group allegedly ran a fraudulent investment platform, luring victims with initial returns before shutting down and disappearing with the capital. Thai immigration officials have charged Huang with forgery and handed him over for further legal proceedings.

The arrest highlights efforts by Thai authorities to strengthen border security, as ordered by Lieutenant General Phanumart Boonyalak. The focus remains on enhancing screening processes to combat transnational crimes. The Immigration Bureau emphasizes the use of advanced technology and international cooperation to safeguard Thailand’s borders and citizens.

Looking ahead, coordination with international justice processes will continue as Thai authorities work with their Chinese counterparts to address the case. This arrest forms part of broader efforts to monitor and tackle cross-border crime in the region, reported The Thaiger.
