Social media has ruined humans

Featured Replies

That may be @KhunLA. But the mere fact that it strikes me about you, means that you likely have posted more about your money here than anyone else. just saying.

I too learned about prudence at an early age, but haven't ever felt the need to diminish others who did not.

Social media tends to bring out the antisocial aspect out of some ruined folks.

Fast food, malls and rat racing is culture.

It does amaze me, that people our age, struggle so much with finances, along with stating life is so hard, and everything is working against them.   When to me, it's simply themselves working against them.

Same with everyone crying about how hard it is now, for youngins to get ahead, a hold in life, but I don't see anything different than when I was a youngin, except they all want it now.   At least we all knew decades again, you had to earn it, though some were too busy trying to impress people that couldn't care less about them.

Seems there's no spare cash now to impress people, and reality of life is hitting hard, earlier.   Oh well, deal with it.

When you start off not having much, learning how to manage it, comes easy, or it did for me.   Relationships took a little longer, though I did learn to cut my losses ASAP, and seems many didn't.    Luckily I never had kids, or got dragged through the 'stacked against men' legal system.

Probably my saving grace to sanity, and getting to use my finances for me, and being able to get away with being an irresponsible LPOS for so long.   Raising a kid in retirement sure did change that, the being responsible part anyway.

Definitely did things ass backwards, and matured with family life, after, retirement. :cheesy:

Gloating and uncaring is what strikes me, @KhunLA, together with the 'black and white' manner in which one tries to justify such behaviour.

In your world, there are only "those who sought to impress". The others who struggle for other reasons do not exist in your world. Black/White, Left/Right. The kind of thinking that created the world we have today. Enough said.

The above post is indicative of one who is self disparaged and feels disenfranchised by using empathy as an exploit tool to rationalize their disposition by blaming others.

Thanks for the word salad @novacova It means nothing to anyone other than yourself. I hope it was tasty, because it looks an absolute mess.

You seem quite defensive and are under a spell of cognitive dissonance.

You have like five other accounts here. You keep making new ones but everyone knows who you are. Only a leftist could hate life as much as you

Certainly there's a few, very few, that got dealt a bad hand, or something unexpected, unpredictably life changing happened.   But I found most, it was simply being irresponsible with their finances that caused problems.

If a buddy of mind is complaining about finances, with a beer & joint in his hand ... well, nuff said.   Or that new car payment is killing him, and he can't afford a mortgage, well, nuff said .... again.

Wife is popping out kid #3 ... again, WTF were you thinking.  Or you cheated on your wife, and now she wants it all.  Oh well.

Not mandatory to participate. This is a forum for anti west people and still not as bad as other sites because they dont censor unpopular opinion yet like most leftwing run media does

Ha ha... nice to see the congregation have arrived. The money worshippers :wai:

I love life. It's the Right Wingers here who spout hate on a daily basis. I am neither to the left nor to the right. I prefer to just be good.

Another negative topic filled with criticism, name calling, and insults. If she is not attacking another member, then it is either Thailand or the public at large. Does the forum really need the constant trolling from someone who is clearly very unhappy with herself and has nothing enlightening or thought provoking to add to the conversation?

Can't you fit a trigger guard on that keyboard of yours?

More defensiveness, an epitome of the op title.

The point that I am making, is that part of your character came through clearly @KhunLA, via Social Media. You get a feel for what people are about. Some really obnoxious characters here. Disguising their ugly personalities by trying to separate people into Left and Right. What is that? It just a mechanism to divide. I'm a person, rather than a political tool. I don't use politics nor money to denigrate others. That's just a disgusting personality trait.

Neither do I, and you read way too much into my posts.  I do break people down to ...

... intelligent

... ignorant

... stupid

... respectful

...  disrespectful

... honest

... dishonest

Life is B&W and I have no time the the 3 in bol:coffee1:

No @KhunLA Life is not B&W. That falls under ignorance. There's a whole spectrum. If you decide it's just B&W, then you are missing all the bits in between. That's how many behave on this forum, on a daily basis. Hard to imagine that they are much different in real life.

People were always flawed, it just seems that social media can bring out the worst in them—sort of like money making bad people worse and good people even better. Messaging is also easily misinterpreted depending on one’s mood and the skill, or lack thereof, of the deliverer. It just happened to come in at a time when the world went to sht… covid, austerity, rising prices, blm, wokeism, Putin’s war, Trump etc. But yes, despite the relative issues of the day and threat of nuclear annihilation, the 1970s-80s was much chiller. Not EVERYONE was pissed off all at the same time. 🙂

Things and people are one way or another, there is rarely an in between.

Either you're intelligent, ignorant (just not intelligent ... yet), or stupid.

Either respectful or you're not

Honest or dishonest, applies to so many things.

Very fine line, if any, between those, and explains most things in life.

On topic, social media hasn't ruined anything, people have, and their abuse of it.  How & why, because they are either stupid, disrespectful or dishonest.

People can bang on all day, or simply agree to disagree.   With that ...

Have a nice day :coffee1:

Well I think you can look toward social media as proof positive that humanity is moving backwards now, and we are racing back towards the cro magnon era.

Progress seems to have stopped, with the exception of a few areas of technology.

I consider social media to be the most destructive force in contemporary culture today. Children are growing up now in a world where they expect immediate response, gratification and notification. Their brains no longer have time to evolve; they must adapt to change in an instant, and the results are distressing. The difficulties of growing up have never been so public. Social technology provides a platform where things can run wild. Imagine the stress of high school – the competition for popularity, the pressure to fit in, the judgmental nature of social activities – at an accelerated pace. We try to protect our children from wandering off into the darkness on their own, and it turns out they are doing exactly that – online. When they get older and “ready,” we send them off to college, where they face more pressures. But social media has an infamous dark side and the more people share, the more serious this side becomes. As it turns out, living your life online has serious consequences for your self-esteem, your relationships, and your career prospects.

And the really scary part is that weak parents are just sitting around letting their young kids play with devices and play on social media for a ridiculous number of hours per day.

It is a strong indication of just how bent, warped and misguided contemporary culture and society is, that someone can be considered an idol or celebrity just because they have alot of followers on Tik tok, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.

@KhunLA You contradict yourself by stating "there is rarely an in-between". How can there be an 'in-between' if there is only Black and White? Are you being stupid or dishonest or ignorant?

There is time for you yet, to grow and gain wisdom. But it's seems you are stuck in a rut of your own volition. All the more strange with you being in Thailand. Open up your mind and see... You don't want to. That's why you get mad or simply leave the conversation. Limited.

Yes, and you are a great example, posting all week long on an Internet forum, although this is nothing new, as people were actively posting all day here for over 20 years already.

We have the choice to take care of ourselves and eat well. Public gyms, parks and other sports facilities are still full of people trying to take care of themselves. There are more gyms in Pattaya than ever. I still manage 1 - 2 hours a day of exercise.
