And before Obamacare was lunched, what country had the highest medical costs per capita in the world?

Yep and it has got worse. Not really his fault but he definitely failed at fixing health care.

Trump makes Obama look like a genius.

  • No mystery there. Look at his background and the people who raised him. He's an apple that didn't fall far from the tree.

  • I listened to his speech to the British Houses of Parliament in Westminster Hall during his State Visit to the UK in May 2011.   He was witty, generous, and complimentary. He was also obviou

And you're also conveniently ignoring the fact that many of the regulatory restrictions put in place under the Obama administration to shore up the stability of the banking sector were later rolled back under Trump I and further weakening of these regulations are currently under consideration under Trump II. And if you're so concerned about the stability of the US financial system, why are you not appalled by Trump's free-for-all hands-off approach to crypto regulation, which is essentially a bet against the US dollar. And we won't even get into all of the corruption and self-dealing going on with the Trump family in the crypto sphere.

Lefty logic

Doesn't change the fact that Obama inherited an economy in an extremely precarious condition which he deserves enormous credit for having pulled out of the ditch.

Why? The whole world recovered as it always does. Obama did nothing special.

Hey! Thanks for the heads-up!  I also appreciate language and help others expand their vocabulary. Here is an example you might enjoy.

“Pedantic is a word used to describe someone who annoys others by correcting small errors, caring too much about minor details, or emphasizing their own expertise, especially in some narrow or boring subject matter.” Credit to Merriam-Webster.

What do you mean by failure? The rate of the uninsured dropped from 16.3% just before the advent of Obamacare to 8% now.

Cost is the issue.  As I stated above, it definitely got more insured but at a high cost.  Health care cost continue to grow because Obama care didn't address cost.  There should have been an option that didn't require private insurance. People could still choose private.  America's health care cost are out of control and simply expanding the broken system seems silly?

"you've got nothing" you have no idea what I have, but it sure sounds a bit like an attempt to make things personal to me who'd have thought it eh?

. Actually you say that quite a lot, it's like a sort of sad catchphrase

So,   What exactly do you have?    nothing I guess, other than a healthy dose of arrogance

It refers to what you offered that was relevant to the issue. And since you made it personal, it amounts to nothing. Try to keep in mind that in this forum the issues aren't the members.

And as for arrogance, I may say harsh things about what asean members write, but not about them personally. That's a distinction you might do well to ponder.

What do you think that the goal of Obamacare was?  As I understand it, it was to get insurance to those who couldn't afford insurance in the marketplace. And, at that, it has succeeded quite well.

Yes, there should have been a Medicare option. But  given unanimous Republican opposition, so far not possible. Sooner or later it will happen as cost continue to outpace inflation. Anywhere from 1/4 to 1/3 of the cost of American health care costs have to do with the fact of the multiplicity of private insurers and all the bureaucracy it takes to administer that.

When I need advice regarding what to ponder I will of course be in touch.

If cost was of no concern the world would be a wonderful place 🙂 All the wonderful things we could do if nobody paid for them...

So, are you claiming that universal healthcare is an impossible dream?

and you need to get over the orange man in the Whitehouse  how long has he been there already  just  this time around?   don't forget to add on the 4 years from his previous stint of course,   following his previous election victory

You missed his resounding defeat in the middle.

I wonder why?!

The point was that Obama care got more people insured but at a high cost.  You claimed it was a success because more are insured but that is easy if cost is of no concern.

Over the next ten years Trump's tax cuts are projected to cost the Federal Govt at least 4.5 trillion dollars.

Obamacare with the Biden subsidies is projected to cost about 1.4 trillion over the next 10 years.

Perhaps both, only a low iq person would want to worsen their country.

In the most recent comprehensive survey of historians, Barack Obama's ranking as president has risen to 10th place overall.

Exactly.  The vast majority admire his two terms, unlike Trump who is only supported by hardcore MAGA nuts.

As a non American, non partisan Dem or Republican, Id have to say Republicans seem to be mostly absolute morons, devoid of any critical thinking skills, as well as just downright dishonest about the facts. No wonder they allowed scum like the current president to get power. Who in their right mind would put an idiot, liar like trump over President Obama?

I think the Trump followers are more of an a_se licking brigade who fear retribution from the crook........😏

Obamacare was a compromise because Republicans refused to consider a "direct pay" insurance system which would have cut the health insurance industry out of the picture. (The health insurance industry gobbles up a huge percentage of premiums for overhead and corporate profit.) Most flaws in Obamacare can be attributed to the fact that it's not a universal program which is what the original goal was, and the fact that it was ditched should be laid squarely at the feet of the Republican party.

Well, let's not forget Joe Lieberman's contribution.  But your rational and true explanation holds no force to them that can't hear it.

Don't understand why nice people. Those who can actually think for themselves, react on this forum. The racist slander, untruths are getting so weird. Before we know it the USA has to declare WAR on Mars/Venezuela/The Moon???? You'all rednecks will be applauding it no matter what.

I really do hope that AN does a IP address survey and show us where the Trumpers actually live.

You do you, okay buddy!

yep and this has what to do with my post.  Weird again... When you can't answer a question, you just post something unrelated.  Trump's tax cuts may cost even more than 4.5 trillion but what does that have to do with my post.
