Well, dozens of slot machine jackpots. Made money but my Medicare premiums will increase. Had six months off between engineering  contracts. So far one month in thailand which is OK. Started so I'll security which by itself is more than enough to support me without me touching my investments and IRA accounts.  Re allocated some of my portfolio and put 100k into xrpc etf and 30 k into SLV .  Lost a sister to drug addiction.  I tried to help, but in the end she refused 300 usd every month and hurt her herself and family.

2926 I will start new engineering  contract and dosh up like mad for the next 15 months in preparation for buying my modest retirement home in Melbourne Florida area,  although am also toying with new Hampshire which is now totally state income tax free.  I grew in New England and I really do miss the seasons. I'm able to travel and escape the coldest months of winter as needed.

In short, things are OK, and I'm looking forward to some of the  Christmas dinners here in Pattaya later this week.

Definitely planning on visiting Europe in 2026, the UK war. Museums,  then Scandinavian and a Nordic  country or two.  Maybe Greece,  my grand parent's home land

Happy holidays,  best wishes and good luck to all.

Condolences for your sister

I found out with people who have drug addiction you can only help them if they want to be helped

In Australia I think they call them poker machines,is that what slot machines are ?

How do you win on these , I only ever lost

Dancing drums slot machine is what I play and there are several variants.  No skill really.  It is not poker, where you keep some cards, draw others. Put money in, select bet size. Push button.  Now the bug jackpots come when you get  to the bonus round,  and 12 disks appear. You pick until you match 3 of the same. You win mini, minor, major or grand.  I have picked a $231,000 Usd grand, 55,000 and dozens in the 10 000 range. Sure I out money in, but no bets bigger than 5.88.  I did play many hours of course.  Sure I gave a lot back, get some taxes, etc.  But I did ok. More free rooms, and food for months.  Foxwoods in Connecticut and various hard rock Seminole casinos in Florida.   I don't recommend it.  I plainly got lucky 3 years in a row.

2025 had been rather a good year, everything going swimmingly (bad metaphor) then the November monsoons brought catastrophic flooding to Hat Yai; December and the year end are literally a wash out. Hopefully 2026 will see everything dry out and our ground floor fully restored. I have a couple of months consulting work booked for next year, so finances are secure, unlike many of my fellow Hat Yai citizens, I suspect 2026 will be a trying year for many here.

Thanks.

And this year could be your last trip to that dismal collection of dog-eared paperbacks known as Canterbury Books in Pattaya, that you love to cite as your bed sit vacation high point.

-For sale BTW, perennially of sale. And for good reason: the  books they show on Google are of use only for drying out wet shoes.

Let's BOTH Carpe that Diem, huh?

Oh beautiful post , thankyou for your service to the community and your support of culture.
