I schedule two bank transfers every month

Featured Replies

Why don't the transfers I make from my bank abroad always arrive on the same day? I schedule two transfers every month: on the 7th and the 18th. Most of the time, they arrive the next day, but sometimes they take two or three days. Why don't they always arrive at the same time? Thank you.

Not necessary.....last month the transfer started the same day. But last Friday arrived, yesterday not.

Weekends, holidays and Wise transfers vary sometimes due to liquidity issues etc

No holiday here or there, no weekends and I don't use wise.

18 was before yesterday and normally money show up the day after (19- Friday): but not yesterday.

It doesn't a matter: just ask why it's never the same every month.

With respect you would be better asking your bank that sends the money......

You have asked a number of what I would call very naive questions about transfers and the SWIFT system recently. Not sure what you are trying to understand as it can vary so much depending on time of day, bank, routing and various other factors.

Simplistically, if you haven't understood yet, there is no guarantee built into the system, so I would suggest you adapt to those vagaries.

So who do you use? Or are yours SWIFT transfers?

Do the banks turn their computers OFF at weekends? 555

Then could I suggest you try WISE. Many years for me with faultless operations.

I know when the weekends or bank holidays are coming so I plan accordingly.

Is this the silly answer of the day/week?

Was thinking the same.

The OP states, "Why don't the transfers I make from my bank............."  This lead me to believe the OP was manually transferring the funds, and did not set up scheduled transfers with the bank.

Of so, it could depend on what time of the day in Thailand the OP does the transfer, and the international time zones, particularly if an intermediary bank in a third country is involved.

There is AML checks. So it might depend on the volume of transfers being done. Or sometimes transfers are flagged for a random check which could add the day(ish).

I don't have any regular transfers but I do get swift transfers from tinder to time.

Most times it takes 1-2 working days to arrive in my account. Once it took less than an hour to arrive, but a couple of months ago the transfer was lost somewhere on the way so after 1 week the sender cancelled the transfer at their end and wired the money again and it arrived a day later.

So basically what I'm saying is that there are some variables we can't control not predict.

Change the schedule to 6th or 5th and 17th or 16th if arrival is crucial.

I don’t know which company you use or from where you are transferring but I transfer money every month from Australia using OFX money cannot be transferred on a weekend or on public holidays at either end.

Its no big deal just plan ahead.
