Second renewal of Non O for Retirement banking requirements

Featured Replies

My TM 30 does not need re-doing every year ( but i do just in case ) just a photo copy of the one I did a few years ago .

I also had to sign the copy even though it was the Wifey that filled it in , and a new one on me , I had to also sign my wife's ID card copy and I think it was her Blue book copy even though she had just signed them and was stood next to me.

TM30 is needed for almost everything at immigration. Normally here is how it works with TM30: If you bring it, they will not ask for it. If you don't bring it, they will ask for it.

I deal with CW.

For my first 10 or so years they never wanted TM30 for extension renewal.

Then bang one year they wanted it.

I haven't change address.

So every year I provide Lease + TM30.

The fact that they take the TM30 does not mean it's essential.

Suggest you obtain one.

"Take kitchen sink" is my way of thinking

yes, good plan.

Also be aware....

I previously used money in bank method (retirement) withdedicated bank account for many years my bank book was sufficient then Bang they wanted 12 month bank statement.

Why I asked why, they replied " Two months no transactions "

I asked that had not been an issue for previous extensions, they came back with standard Thai line..... "Can Not"

I always go to my local Immigration office 2 weeks before to check if there are any changes. Its only a 13k drive and the officers I deal with are friendly. There are 2 who speak perfect English. Its up north.

Just want to thank those who are always willing to answer the same old questions about visa renewals. I know it can get a bit tedious. It did put my mind at ease and I went to CW this morning to renew my "retirement visa" feeling prepared. I had a 9 a.m. appointment, was out of there at 9:25. It's a very good idea to make an appointment!!!

One thing that surprised me - I always take BTS to Mo Chit then a taxi .. well, there were no taxis! Usually, there are several lined up. Had to wait about 10 mintes.

I arrived Immigration at 8 a.m., went downstairs to get documents copied. I use Bangkok bank so it's very easy to use their branch at CW to update the passbook in front of the branch before they open, then get it copied. The bank opens at 8:30 (I made sure I was first in line because of my 9 a.m. appointment) and asked for a letter showing my balance as well as one month of transactions. The reason for this is I already had a 12 month printout, but dated Dec 20th (worried about holiday and weekend hours). That took about 15 minutes.

I only gave the IO a copy of the first and last page of my passbook because I had the 12 month printout.

Someone had mentioned here about a "document check". I thought that meant a person looking at the paperwork to see if anything was missing before the appointment .. but no, it just a sheet of paper with instructions from the information counter, unless I got it wrong?

The IO was very nice and helpfull. I had to go back downstairs to get a couple of things copied. I just gave her a copy of the first page of my lease, figured that was enough. No. She wanted copies of it all. Good thing I brought it! Also, I had been out of the country so they wanted the re-entry stamp page. They didn't want my TM47. I think the new documents they provide for us to sign cover that now. They took my TM30 but it's not updated. My condo owner was not able to update the information online so she just gave me the old one. No problem.

Anyway, this is how it went for me today. Very happy, no complaints!

First up thanks for report.

With appointments for extensions you don't go to information desk or reception where they issue queue numbers.

You go straight to L1 (first desk on right as soon as you enter the zoo area.

Show, your print out of appointment. There is a doc check chick who will go through your paperwork then you go and wait outside the L desk they direct you to.

In any event worked out ok for you.

ah! that's where I went wrong. I just got in the first line (on the left), showed her my appointment and asked about the document check, she sent be back out to the information desk. No wonder they had no idea what I was talking about..5555

should mention, once I got myself sorted out I did go to L1, 8:50 a.m., no one there.

just done today in Cha AM.

I had a year statement+ bank letter printed. 150Thb each.

I think the price for the statement is the same either for 1 or 12 months, so do it for a full year just in case and even if it s 50 baht more, that's nothing.

In the inmigration, small differences /issues compared to 1 year ago:

Apart from all the forms, photocopies i had to sign in EACH sheet, there was a kind of "contract" where i was informed about all the cases that my visa could have been revoked. i had to fill that several pages long document and sign all sheets.

Than, i was asked to print ALL PAGES of my passport "next time" (Oook,i ll do it next time)

Than, I was asked (first time ) to draw a map with the location of my condo...i was given a ruler and a pen: back to school ! :it was fun

Finally last by not last, at first they didn t want to let me fill the 90 days report at the same time coz it s 16 days earlier than the due date (last year it was 20 days earlier and no problem, ) but fortunately when my visa extension was approved, paid and stamped ,another employee said "it s ok, it s ok. we can do it now"...

so, i made another queue (better than coming back, cant do it online coz i re-entered in October) and at the end after about

2h 30min i was all set and ready to go.

Consider that i had to go to the bank first since statement, letter and pasbbok must be all done ON THE SAME DAY of applying for the extension (very annoying for Cha Am since the bank is about 10km away from the Inmigration office).

But i heard that in other offices they are more tollerant (bank book updated on the same day, bt letter and statements few days earlier is ok).

Not too bad, just some more signutures here and there (maybe 25 instead of the usual 15). and a drawing (that was funny).

just in case, i am not sure if this is still the right topic i want to mention that a friend of mine who was extending his visa based on being married to a Thai, he was very upset coz he was asked for a translation of his marriage certificate from his italian embassy in Bangkok from italian (they got married in Italy) to ENGLISH and than from english to Thai.

That's crazy, he was right to be upset, i wonder why a direct reliable official translation from italian to thai is no longer ok and it has to go through English first.

There are sticter rules i can understand, I am a guest here and i have to think about Thai perspective but things like this which don t make any sense ...i cant really understand why they have to make the life impossible to a guy who had never had any issues here, married to a thai, owner of a property, a car and 2 motos etc... double translation for what ?

i wanted to tell you just in case...

No Cash Money? Where do you see that?

3.3 - that is the combo of money in the bank and monthly transfer, afaik you can combine those two but must total to be (at least) 800.000 THB. @DrJack54 knows more about this.

(In the picture it states under 3.3 that the documents that must be handed over to immigration has to follow the guidelines under 3.1 and 3.2, for example statement 1 year. *3.1*)

Photo of residence, that is necessary for Marriage, but apparently this IO wants it for Retirement as well

Sorry, not easy to read

But under 8.3 2?

stays this: EXTENSION FEE 1,900 BAHT (NOT ACCEPT CASH

............

Clearly the next 2 lines are also a continuation of this. The only way to pay at most immigrations is cash. So it means something else.

I think we are off topic, but this reads to be a mistake to me.

Could it be the translation service he was looking to use, could not translate from Italian to Thai, and so he was thus asked (by the translation service) to first have the document translated to English language, such that they could then translate the English to Thai? This reads to me like a translation service issue, or an issue with the Italian Embassy, but not a Thai foreign affairs constraint.
