The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced the release of a teaser advertising film featuring Lalisa Manobal, widely known as Lisa from the K-pop group BLACKPINK, in January 2026. Lisa, appointed as Amazing Thailand Ambassador, will promote Thai tourism through this campaign, aiming to attract a global audience with her influence. Her involvement has already generated excitement among her fanbase, the Lilies, creating a buzz for Thailand’s highlighted tourist destinations.

In October, TAT revealed Lisa’s role in the campaign, promoting five notable Thai locations: Wat Arun, Koh Phi Phi, Wat Sirindhorn Wararam Phu Phrao, Koh Khan, and Phu Lang Ka National Park. The announcement was met with enthusiastic responses, particularly from Lisa's international fans, spurring interest in these destinations. The promotional images shared online combined Lisa's global appeal with Thailand's cultural landmarks to attract potential tourists.

The upcoming film leverages the concept of the "LISA Effect," referencing Lisa's previous positive impact on Thai tourism. This includes her music video for "Rockstar" shot in Bangkok’s Chinatown and her appearance in the HBO series "The White Lotus." TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool expressed that this campaign is a pivotal step in Thailand's tourism strategy, aiming to enhance the country's cultural image globally.

Looking forward, the TAT anticipates this campaign will direct travel choices and support sustainable tourism growth in Thailand. Lisa’s widespread appeal is expected to play a significant role in driving tourism, reflecting TAT’s strategy to use her international presence to boost the profile of Thai destinations. The campaign aligns with TAT's objectives to not only attract tourists but also contribute to the sustainable development of the tourism sector, reported The Thaiger.

Key Takeaways

  • Lisa's ambassador role is crucial for promoting Thai tourism globally.
  • The campaign highlights the "LISA Effect" to leverage her influence.
  • The initiative supports sustainable tourism growth in Thailand.

Maybe she will start to end the overpriced THB, the double standards, the grumpy immigration, the traffic safety... Instead of promoting het Buriram balls

Did TAT already post an exact figure, up to the satang after the comma, how much extra revenue the campaign would create?

At 500ST  1000LT   Lisa could bring in quite a lot of money to Thailand..

Lisa who?

More importantly, who are Lisa's international fan base?  Are they the type of people who would want to come to Thailand for a holiday?

I was in the Bangkok city center recently and stood on a corner. Every direction I turned there was a giant image of her promoting some sort of product. That girl is raking in the money.

But you raise a good point - I don't know if anyone else knows who she is.

Yep - seen those myself.  It reminded me of India where there is an Indian cricketer on nearly every poster - and they have a lot in that country.  Good luck to her - the looks will only last so long - make hay while the sun shines.

That job could turn even the Dalai Lama into a raging pit bull of a monk.  It's soul destroying work.  The immigration people I've come across handle it better than I would.

Beautiful and sexy image of Thailand ❤️❤️❤️

Perhaps to many, but there are also board members who would prefer to unwrap that package and be greeted by a turgid todger instead of what Lisa was born with. Count the red thumbs for this post and you'll see what I mean.

I once made a similar comment a ways back and got shouted down. I just said that there is nothing I said that would be news to anyone in Korea.

Did she not start the fad with the Labubus? Did not last long. I hope the effect of her promoting Thailand will last a little longer.
