A 28-year-old Myanmar national was killed in a knife attack following a drunken altercation with a co-worker in Bangkok’s Bang Khae district early on 30 December 2025, prompting a police investigation and the arrest of the suspected attacker. The incident occurred shortly after midnight and resulted in one fatality, raising concerns about alcohol-fuelled violence among groups of migrant workers living in close quarters.

Police from Phetkasem Police Station were notified of the incident at around 00:30 on 30 December 2025. The attack took place at the end of Soi Boonmee, Soi Bang Khae 3, on Bang Khae–Bang Bon Road, Bang Khae district, near Bang Ai canal. Officers attended the scene alongside forensic police, a forensic pathologist from Siriraj Hospital and rescue workers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation.

At the scene, authorities found the body of a man later identified as Mr Sin, a 28-year-old Myanmar national. The victim had sustained a stab wound from a sharp object below the chest and a head injury consistent with being struck by a blunt object and he was pronounced dead at the location.

A nearby resident, Mr Woraphon, aged 51, told police that he heard loud shouting and came outside to investigate. He found foreign workers assisting the injured man and was told by the victim’s friends that a fight had broken out with another group of Myanmar nationals. According to the witness, the victim had fled before collapsing near a parked vehicle, but communication was difficult due to language barriers.

Pol Col Pramote Chanboonkaew, Superintendent of Phetkasem Police Station, said officers had arrested the suspect, identified as Mr Khan. The suspect stated that Mr Sin had been drinking with friends and encountered another group, including Mr Khan, with both sides reportedly intoxicated. An argument escalated into violence, during which Mr Khan allegedly used a knife to stab Mr Sin, causing fatal injuries.

Matichon reported that police said the suspect’s statement remained inconsistent due to intoxication and communication difficulties. Investigators confirmed that both the victim and the suspect’s group were employed at the same factory producing school uniforms. Officers have taken the suspect into custody for further questioning, are reviewing CCTV footage from the area, and will proceed with legal action in accordance with the law.
