Does Paradise Come With Side Effects?

The clip linked below appears to show an Arab or Indian man in Pattaya getting pepper sprayed in the face as he tries to flee in a taxi, then whacked with women's shoes, knocked down, and kicked all over by a group of angry transgenders.

Pattaya videos like this do not seem so rare on Instagram. It makes you wonder how often something like this plays out for Arab and Indian “nightlife” tourists down there.

If only there were some simple way to avoid getting maced and curb pounded during your beach holiday to paradise?

Well from a start people could avoid A-hole places like Pattaya.

Why would they want to avoid the charming lady boys?

Ladyboys are a protected species in Thailand.

So my understanding is you are into ladyboys but you would like to know how to go about soliticiting them without getting your head kicked in?

Just use common sense, man.

Avoid PACKS of ladyboys. There is strength in numbers and they are more likely to attack in packs than 1 on 1.

Not my understanding at all. The OP sounded like pure sarcasm, rather the opposite to what you wrote.

Paradise only comes with side-affects if a person has one already.

Something is radically wrong.

We read of these attacks in Pattaya every day. Every day.

Ladyboys attacking tourists. Every day.

To my way of thinking, when tourists get attacked every day, I would think the police might step in and deal with it. Maybe even prevent it from happening.

See to the safety of tourists. If something happens every day, and you know it's going to happen tomorrow, a sane reaction would be to put something in place to prevent it.

Maybe even put roving police patrols in the streets as most other civilized countries do? It's not a novel idea. It's a proven, effective tactic.

Prevention, not reaction.

If they really cared about the safety of tourist, they would start with safe place to cross the roads, and fix the sidewalks.

Facebook reports this guy tried to renege on the deal he had made with them. NEVER mess with those people, they're not right in the head and often carry stilettoes which can turn into a deadly weapon.

My understanding is that he agreed a transaction and then went back on his word

Violence cannot be condoned- but if you want to avoid getting into difficult situations be aware that your behaviour can escalate in to ugly consequences

  1. Learn to speak English

  2. Bathe and wear deodorant

  3. Learn common rules of courtesy

  4. Avoid Ladyboys

  5. Pay for what you buy at the agreed price.

  6. Dont touch the merchandise until you buy it.

Have fun!

As I said… 🙂

There are likely alot of ladyboys in Thailand that are kind, decent, honest folks. But, not so in Pattaya, as that place seems to really attract the dregs, the lowlifes, and the thieves. Not referring to ex-pats or tourists, just a low element of ladyboys. Best to steer clear in general, but especially there.

My impression of Pattaya between 1980s and now. Joni Mitchell sums it up:

They paved paradise, put up a parking lot
With a pink hotel, a boutique, and a swingin' hot spot

Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone
They paved paradise, put up a parking lot

Not just Patts, or Thai tourist spots, as I peek on Gmaps of places that use to be my playground at the Caribbean Island, MX, Florida Keys, and I don't recognized the places.

I can understand the attraction of Thai tourist areas for non Americans.

Heck, I don't recognize places in the US where I lived 50 years ago.

I am curious why you feel the attraction is only for non-Americans and not for USA or Canadian people.

There is no place for transphobia

However having said that last September I was nearly brutally attacked myself by a ladyboy in broad daylight up in thappraya Rd .

I only just recovered mentally from this

We do not know what you did to provoke such an event, if one really did occur. As for mental recovery, are you certain you are not blaming this real or imagined event for a pre-existing condition?

This is the sort of thing that happens to folks that don’t listen to their phobic instincts.

What's your point? Your video does not show what happened prior to the altercation. For all we know he may have accosted someone, or used their services and not paid. If people get into trouble in Pattaya, it is usually because they were up to no good. Normal law abiding people do not have run ins with prostitutes like this. Many of us have had hookers come onto us. It is easily handled by, No thank you, sorry, my wife or husband is waiting for me, or, sorry I have a bad infection and the wound is leaking.

Because TH is too far away, long flights, and more expensive, air travel cost, the simplier to have a holiday in the Americas. Use to take me ~30 hrs to commute to work, from Udon Thani, to Memphis airport, when I still worked there, and lived in TH. Add a day crossing the date line when returning to TH. So 5 days, since not living in Bangkok.

About the same time when hopping back and forth from both PHL & MEM. Which required an overnight in DMK, as flights arrived too late, and left too early. Better and more options flying from west coast.

But 5 days travel time to get to Phuket or Samui, and the expense, is a bit much for Americans, when all that is needed, is in the American, along with being very diverse. Want the Asian flare, go to ChinaTown in any big city.

Thailand lacks things for kids to do, except beach & pool time. I struggled keeping the kid entertained when exploring TH. Not so much when I vacationed with kids in Americas.

Totally agree. generally dealing with back alley freelancers adds already a whole set of risks.
