How to buy crypto?

Featured Replies

I am attempting to buy USDT or another stable coin to pay a supplier in China that only accepts crypto. (It is legitimate, I have purchased previously with a friend transferring crypto for me.)

Has anyone registered with a Thai based exchange? I am from the USA and can't get past the FATCA requirement. The app say I can, but I can't or it rejects it at the end of the process. Annoying

I was able register an account with Kraken but can't fund it as it won't accept my USA or Thai debit card or wire transfer from my Thai bank. I can't transfer online with my USA account.

I am now trying Moonpay but it requires address verification. I have requested a bank statement from Bangkok Bank which they are mailing me. Hopefully it has my address in English on it.

Any suggestions?

I use Bitkub.com as do a few of my friends.

Are you from the USA?

UK originally. My friends who have accounts are all UK citizens.

Thanks. Bitcup won't accept USA applications. Understandably.

Best of course is to buy from someone who has crypto in an anonymous wallet, and have them send the crypto to your anonymous wallet. I don't want to have anything to do with crypto exchanges any more. I was on one and apart from the access problems ("wrong" password, 2F verification not working), they kept tightening the screw about who I was, to whom I was sending, from whom I was receiving etc. I could see the time coming when they would shut me out and confiscate my bitcoins.

Did you try Coinbase?

I did, but it also would not accept my Thai or USA debit cards or bank transfer from my Thai bank. Maybe I could do a swift transfer but I don't want to pay that high a fee. Trying to buy using Moonpay through my Exodus wallet now but address verification is holding me up. JackGats may be right that the best way is to have a friend transfer to my wallet.

Yes. May have to use a 3rd Party friend / family.

Have you tried Satang? They accept payment by eft from a Thai bank account once you have registered with them.

Thanks. I'll give them a try and see if they love the USA!

You’re a citizen of a first-world country, so don’t be greedy — you’ll have to pay for that. Also, with your “first-world” citizenship you can’t register with any Thai legal crypto exchanges. Bitkub, Binance Thailand, Bitazza, Satang, or any other Thai crypto company will not deal with Americans. Coinbase or Binance USA are your only options, despite their high fees and other issues.

I tried with Bitkub, a Thai crypto exchange registered with SEC Thailand. I had the same problems as you and contacted support. They replied that they are currently not accepting US citizens. Many Thai people use Binance, but the same problem if you try to sign up with them, not accepting US citizens.

I don't blame the Thai crypto exchanges for not accepting USA accounts. Although I am a USA citizen, I would love to see the whole world place a one week moratorium on all sales to and purchases from the USA. Just to teach the brilliant man in the white house and his sycophants the necessity of being a good global citizen.

I use coins.co.th but only have a limited number of coins but I just checked and have USDT. I have used them a lot and found them good. They have just opened an Australia site and have signed up and been verified but not used that site as yet.
