Royal Danish Army is some 21,000 strong, so 50,000 might be a bit of a stretch. It is a very small country - just over 6 million people. It lost 43 soldiers in Afghanistan.

If he didn't have such a large portion of his navy off Venezuela he could counter them without invading Greenland!

Denmark has 16,000 to 17,000 active duty troops.

It’s considered prudent when a threat is made against a NATO country for NATO to put boots on the ground immediately and article 5 would be triggered if there’s any attack.

Some US politicians are bragging about annexing Greenland. What is the EU waiting to declare those politicians and their relatives unwanted in Europe? If some relatives are in Europe on student's visas, give them two weeks to leave.

The vessels deployed off of Venezuela are warm water vessels. Greenland is in the polar region and is subject to extreme cold and thick polar ice that can rip open a non reinforced hull like a can opener. You need specialized naval vessels. The US 3rd fleet which has arctic responsibility has its far north focus on Alaska.

The Royal Canadian Navy has been patrolling the Baffin and Labrador Sea as part of Canadian national security. 4 of the 6 new DeWolf class Arctic patrol vessels are dedicated to Canada's northern polar and east coast region. The RCAF regularly patrols the region and it has a satellite surveillance system operating.

All this talk of occupying Greenland is hot air. It will not happen if Trump doesn't want to be impeached. The USA is not in a position to occupy Greenland against the will of the Greenland people. The aggressive action would not be supported by the US people, especially once images of local Inuit fighting US military occupiers was broadcast. It would cost the US hundreds of millions of $$ to undertake an occupation. Congress won't agree and the US military would be hesitant. The US would have to overfly Canada to effectively maintain control of Greenland, and canada won't agree. Detouring out of Canadian airspace would be an expensive undertaking. The US won't be this foolish.

Better option - close the US base (Pituffic Space Base), remove all US troops, and then hire 50,000 North Korean troops to replace them.

For good measure, give Putin a lease to build a golf resort and hotel casino.

He's throwing around a number of 10 million dollars to each resident, but that's not coming from Trump. Not sure where he's getting that.

The point is the population is very small and it's not that expensive to buy out the population.
