Here's a quick "how-to" guide for using the Imagine feature in Grok to create videos (as of early 2026):

Grok's Imagine is primarily a mobile-first feature (Grok app on iOS/Android), though some access is also available via web/grok.com/imagine. It excels at fast image-to-video animation (usually 6–15 second clips with synced audio/sound effects) and in some cases direct text-to-video.

Quick Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Get the app & sign in

    • Download the Grok app (search "Grok" in App Store or Google Play)

    • Sign in with your X (Twitter) account → Note: Video generation may require X Premium / SuperGrok subscription for unlimited or higher-quality use (free tier has daily limits)

  2. Switch to Imagine mode

    • Open the app

    • Tap the Imagine tab (usually at the top or in the main menu – looks like a magic wand/paintbrush icon)

    • You should see a clean prompt box + attachment/upload button

  3. Two main paths to create a video

Path A – Easiest & most popular: Image → Video

    • Generate or upload a static image first: • Type a text prompt (e.g. "cyberpunk samurai girl standing on rainy rooftop neon lights") • Generate image(s) → pick your favorite

    • Tap/long-press the image

    • Select "Make video" or "Animate"

    • Choose animation mode/style if available (Normal / Fun / Custom / Spicy)

    • Optionally add extra motion instructions: "camera slowly zooms in", "character starts walking forward", "wind blows hair dramatically"

    • Hit generate → wait ~10–30 seconds

Path B – Direct Text-to-Video (available in newer updates)

    • In the Imagine prompt box, write a full scene description

    • Add trigger words like "video", "animated clip", or "short movie" Example: "A red fox jumping over a snowy fence at golden hour, cinematic camera pan, with gentle wind sounds"

    • Select video mode if prompted (some versions auto-detect)

    • Generate

  4. After generation

    • Preview the short clip (usually 6–15 seconds with AI-generated sound)

    • Download as MP4

    • Share directly to X or save to gallery

    • If result is off → regenerate with more specific motion/camera/style instructions

Quick Tips for Better Videos

  • Best prompts are visual + motion-focused — describe camera movement (zoom, pan, orbit), character action, lighting changes

  • Higher resolution input images → better animation quality

  • Use Spicy mode (if subscribed) only when you actually need more permissive/NSFW content (it has its own controversies)

  • Clips are short — perfect for memes, social media hooks, product teasers, not long storytelling (yet)

Enjoy the chaos — Grok Imagine is currently one of the fastest (and wildest) ways to turn ideas into moving clips in 2026!

Asking for a friend.

Thanks,

I generated this video from start to finish in about five minutes. Usually, I take my idea for a prompt, dictate it to ChatGPT or Gemini, and ask them to fix the grammar and turn it into a short prompt for the AI video generator I’m using — in this case, Grok. Once I’m happy with it, I just paste it into the image or video tool, as shown in the photo, and it generates the result. It’s really simple, and I’m using the free version.

Looks like one of my x girlfriends,

Used Grok for this:

It was the free version.

This is the prompt:

"A full-body shot of a distinguished older gentleman with a curled moustache, round glasses, a bowler hat, and a smart three-piece suit. He is walking slowly forward with an easy, natural gait through a field of yellow daffodils that sway slightly in a gentle breeze. Approximately 2 metres in front of him, a friendly dog walks toward the camera with the same relaxed pace. The camera is positioned 15 metres ahead, pointing directly at them, capturing the man’s entire figure and clear facial expression. He turns his head slightly to the side, giving a confident glance past the lens. The scene is set outdoors in a calm, pleasant atmosphere with open land extending into the distance under soft, natural light. Hyperrealistic."

I added the word hyperrealistic because the prompt needs to be completely clear. If it isn’t precise, the system may create unwanted variations or distort the scene.
