Closed-circuit television footage showing a German tourist allegedly stealing cash from a spa in central Phuket has circulated widely online, drawing public attention to the incident. The footage was shared on social media on 20 January 2026 and shows a foreign man taking money from a cashier’s drawer at Thanya Spa and Massage. The alleged theft occurred in the early evening and has prompted discussion about tourist conduct and business security in busy urban areas.

The incident took place at Thanya Spa and Massage on Ranong Road in the Talat Nuea subdistrict of Mueang Phuket district. According to the post, the CCTV clip was recorded at about 17:00 when no staff were present at the front counter. The footage shows the man entering the spa, sitting and waiting briefly and then approaching the cashier’s counter.

In the video, the man is seen pulling open the cash drawer and taking cash from inside before returning to his seat. A staff member later approaches him, although the footage shared online does not show what followed. The clip was posted by the Facebook page “โหดจัง จังหวัดภูเก็ต”, which regularly shares local incidents from the province.

Thanabat said the spa reviewed its CCTV footage at about 17:06 on the same day after staff became aware of the missing cash. During the review, staff identified the suspect as a German tourist named Mr. Loszlo. His name and details were recorded on the spa’s service registration form.

The spa has accused Mr. Loszlo of stealing 2,000 baht in cash from the drawer while the cashier was away from the counter. No additional details were provided in the post regarding whether the cash was recovered. The online post did not state whether a formal police complaint had been filed at the time of reporting.

The footage has been widely shared on social media, where it has attracted attention from both local residents and online users. Incidents involving alleged theft by tourists can have reputational implications for destinations that rely heavily on visitor confidence. Businesses in tourist areas often depend on CCTV systems to document incidents and identify suspects when disputes arise.

Khoasod reported what happens next will depend on whether the spa pursues the matter through official channels. If a complaint is lodged, authorities would typically review the CCTV footage and registration records as part of any investigation.

After reading this, I understood why you wear a mask.

Arrest him, take him to court, let him pay for damages and eventually serve a small holiday at the Phuket Hilton and then throw him out of life. Only newsworthy as it is an alien.

I'm sure if he looked up, he would have seen the camera as well.

German Tourist Arrested Over Massage Salon Theft in Phuket

Phuket police have arrested a 25-year-old German tourist in connection with the theft of 2,000 baht from a massage salon on Ranong Road, an incident that has prompted further investigation into possible accomplices. The arrest followed the suspect’s return to the salon a day after the theft, where staff alerted police. Authorities confirmed the man admitted the offence at the time of his detention.

The incident occurred on 20 January, when the foreign tourist allegedly took advantage of the temporary absence of the salon’s cashier. According to police, he opened a cash drawer and removed 2,000 baht before leaving the premises. The theft was recorded by closed-circuit television cameras installed inside the salon.

After reviewing the CCTV footage, a female employee of the massage salon filed a formal complaint with police. Officers began examining the evidence and identifying the suspect based on the recorded images. No arrests were made on the day of the incident while inquiries continued.

On 21 January, the suspect, named as Laszlo Ruben Eschenlohr Laszlo, returned to the massage salon and attempted to apologise for his actions. He also offered to return the stolen money to the staff. Employees refused to accept the repayment and instead contacted the police, who attended the location and took the man into custody.

During the arrest, police reported that the suspect became emotional and broke down in tears. He admitted to stealing the money and told officers that he had acted “on impulse.” His statement was recorded as part of the investigation and police confirmed that he acknowledged his guilt at the scene.

Phuket police stated that the case remains under investigation, as officers are also searching for two additional individuals believed to be possible accomplices, who were with him at the time of the theft. Authorities have not released further details about the identities or whereabouts of the other suspects.

Police reiterated that theft offences are treated seriously under Thai law, regardless of the amount involved. Officials noted that foreign nationals are subject to the same legal process as Thai citizens. Further updates are expected once the investigation is completed and any additional suspects are located.

One of those filthy "beg-packers". This time stealing, not begging, however.

Revoke his visa and off he'll go.

After searching for his full name in connection with THAIGER, it appears that he made a one-time mistake.

Duhhh. Perhaps he hasn't heard of that new gizmo called CCTV. Oh wait. CCTV has been around for 50 years plus, it's not a new concept. I was selling and installing CCTV way long before this kid was even conceived, probably even before his mother was born. What is new is the miniature size, the low cost of today's CCTV. Heck, I wouldn't even scratch my privates in many places, for fear of being electronically observed. The "eye" is VERYWHERE. This kid needs to develop some situational awareness.

You may very well be right. I hope he can hand the money back, pay some compensation and a fine and let him be on his way. This may be a cheap lesson for him. No need to destroy his life.
