A Thai man survived a head-on collision between a private car and a ten-wheel lorry, leaving rescue workers stunned after finding him alive inside a vehicle reduced to twisted metal. The crash occurred at around 12.20 pm on Friday, 23 January 2026, and resulted in extensive damage to both vehicles. Despite the severity of the impact, the driver of the car sustained only minor injuries.

The incident came to public attention after a Facebook user, Saknapong Kiatcheusakul, livestreamed footage from the scene shortly after the crash. The video showed a red car crushed almost beyond recognition, with debris scattered across the road, the roof torn open, shattered windows and heavy damage to the engine compartment. The force of the collision led many at the scene to believe no one could have survived.

The other vehicle involved was a ten-wheel lorry, which also suffered serious damage to its front section. Initial police inquiries suggested that one or both vehicle drivers may have lost control or attempted to overtake at close range, resulting in the high-impact collision. Investigators have not yet confirmed the exact cause of the crash.

Rescue workers said they were shocked to hear the trapped driver calling for help from inside the wreckage. Emergency responders used hydraulic cutting and spreading equipment to free him, a process that took more than 20 minutes due to the extent of the damage. One volunteer rescuer said, “At first, seeing the condition of the car, I thought there was no chance of survival, but when we got closer, we heard him calling for help.”

After being pulled from the vehicle, the man was conscious and able to communicate normally, though visibly shaken. He was found to have only minor abrasions and bruising, an outcome described by onlookers as extraordinary given the state of the car. Many bystanders remarked that his “time had not yet come”.

Naewna reported that some people at the scene noted that the driver was carrying religious amulets, identified as Luang Pu Thuat and Luang Pu Thim. While these observations drew attention from witnesses, authorities made no comment on their significance. Police confirmed that a full investigation into the accident would continue to determine the precise sequence of events.

No "miracle" here just luck. If there was someone in the passenger seat the story would be different. That sure looks unsurvivable.

Luang Phu Tuad and we need the car number for the lottery.Even if he did't have one he should say he did and the price will soar as it's proven lucky.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luang_Pu_Thuat

Many people in Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia believe that amulets depicting Luang Pu Thuat hold great protective powers, granting safety in times of distress and reportedly saving believers from fatal automobile accidents. Ajahn Tim Dhammataro, abbot of Wat Chang Hai, pioneered the creation of Phra Luang Phor Thuad amulets.[8]

Older, sacred amulets of Luang Pu Thuat are considered priceless and powerful.[9]

But added to the luck being buckled up!

Not so common here.

I did not see any hydraulic equipment. I did see someone pull the door open manually, the driver then put his shoes on and got out.

And not a deflated airbag in sight.

Our 23 old Toyota Vios doesn't have. So you can assume his car is similarly old.

(Mazda from 2011 was at the workshop for exchange of "igniter" / worldwide Takata disaster).

How to know? Buddha sure looked after him on this occasion. He should become a monk after surviving that accident. 🙂
