‘Everybody’s at each other’s throats’: James Cameron

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

James Cameron and his wife bought a farm in New Zealand in 2011 and decided post-pandemic to make the move permanent, he said that New Zealand’s handling of the Covid-19 pandemic is the reason behind his decision to relocate there from the US.

“New Zealand had eliminated the virus completely,” he said. “They actually eliminated the virus twice. The third time, when it showed up in a mutated form, it broke through. But fortunately, they already had a 98% vaccination rate.”

He continued: “This is why I love New Zealand. People there are, for the most part, sane – as opposed to the United States, where you had a 62% vaccination rate, and that’s going down, going the wrong direction.

“Where would you rather live? A place that actually believes in science and is sane and where people can work together cohesively to a common goal, or a place where everybody’s at each other’s throats, extremely polarised, turning its back on science and basically would be in utter disarray if another pandemic appears.”

‘Everybody’s at each other’s throats’: James Cameron says he has left the US permanently

Cameron joins an increasing exodus of film industry celebrities leaving the US, citing Trump’s second term in the White House as a key reason. George Clooney has recently been granted French citizenshipwhich Jim Jarmusch has also announced that he is applying for, while Ellen DeGeneres has moved to the UK and Rosie O’Donnell to Ireland.

They really should keep their thoughts to themselves. And I thought he was extremely intelligent. Stick to making movies.

Twice ... cheesy

I guess a few more would leave, if they were multi millionaires, and lived there for 50 ish yrs already. I was way shy of a millionaire, and after 45 yrs, left. Find it still a fine place to live, if that's your choice.

I only know 1 person who thinks about leaving, everyone else I know is quite happy living there.

Flip side, millions think like me, and realize it truly is the 'Land of Opportunity', if you want it to be.

Can't be all bad, with that waitlist to get in ...

Fingers crossed and a quick move to Alberta for me.......if the time comes.

Great way to trash his legacy. Cameron is a fascist. And he's proud of it. Canada is closer to home anyway, same scenery same misguided vax fascism.

He's arguably one of the most influential directors of all time, and you cannot argue with facts his movies have broken box office records - from Terminator 2, Titanic, Avatar - the sheer volume of money they made is astonishing.

So to suggest he is a nobody is far of the mark.

Personally i don't get what the issue with New Zealands approach is? They contained the virus, and lived a relatively normal life, bar one or two weeks lockdown. Most people in the west were locked down for over a year off and on, never mind the horrendous health toll !
