Why would a 79 year old dying in this manner be a 'very bad image' for tourism ??? - he wasn't attacked, murdered, killed... it appears he died of 'natural causes' after swimming.

  • Indeed. We all have to die somewhere. A sunny beach in Thailand is better than some other options...

  • Not a single week or month without a foreigner dying on the streets of Pattaya. Very bad image for tourism in Thailand.

What's wrong with a beach in Pattaya? Sounds like you're making assumptions. Perhaps he was an artist, a nature-lover, an author etc.. not a whore-chaser...

Did you actually read the article? The guy passed away on a 'beach'.. nothing suspicious.. 79yr old is a good innings.. would look like natural causes.

IF you are going to spread 'throw-away' comments like you did.. at least back them up with facts. You smell of being one of those farang who just like to moan, complain, whinge, cry and sook at anything available.. You a Brit right? There are daily planes going back to UK.. you should try to find yourself a good deal.

We know a lot of Brits called Sigmund 🤔

RIP

I always wonder what the deceased would think if they could return and see the comments we make here. RIP Mr: Christansen…

60 year olds shouldn't be doing crystal meth.

Surely nobody should be doing crystal meth 🤔, it can kill you at any age.

Why should he be embarrassed walking down any beach with his wife?

Much more embarrassing sitting in the bars ogling young girls 🤔

Worse when you're old with an aged heart. All the girls were doing it back then and he foolishly started taking it too. The prevalence of drugs and drug related crime was the main reason I departed Cambodia

Yes, he could have died alone back home and not been discovered until the stench became overwhelming. I'd take a sunny day on the beach any time.

Inclined to set the bar lower, say 16 year olds too!

Chuckie is back!

My intent wasn't to get anyone upset!

I'm not making anymore assumption than the next person! But I'm a bit curious! Curious that when my number is up whatever I'm doing where I'm doing it, whatever race I might be that if someone is curious ask the necessary questions that my death was in fact an accident.

I did wonder and ask was the guy on the beach walking (sand) or on the boardway, (since the body is covered rightfully so) I also curious as to what the wife was wearing curious to me because how one is dressed walking and playing in the water. I would assume if he was swimming would be in a bathing suit since he is cover I'm can only assume right?

Now what makes me curious since so much isn't clear the guy was 79 years old bravo those who can but how many on this board know of 79 year old guys swimming?

The note that he was separated whatever that means with his wife I would assume before anyone goes swimming or do anything they would make sure the other half or whoever they came with know where they were going or doing before they do it!

I can only assume maybe the guy had some mental issue like dimentia or the big A or maybe being separated was they were both swimming when they got separated?

NeverthelessI do hope while he was alive live a great life and went on his own terms. R.i.P.

Well I almost died on my last trip to Thailand. I nad a heart attack and survived with the help of my Thai relatives, until I made it to the hospital

and had a stint installed. I hope to return to Thailand a couple more times if I can get health coverage that I can

afford. No more long trips for me tho, one month is all I plan to be away from home from now on. This guy at 79 did live a good

life, and if his heart just gave out, well being in the Tropics anywhere was likely a pleasure for him for the most part.

IMO

Interesting post.

Pattaya is a retirement destination, but having so many foreigners die in Thailand, due to old age, does take up some government department resources. Thailand couldn't care how it looks, just how much it costs.

There's no money in 80 year olds and above, just expense. They are not putting much into the economy at that age.

Thailand has a restriction on their retirement visa that one must be over 50 years of age. Is it possible they may bring in a further restriction that one must also be under 80 years of age in the future?

Basically, go back to your home country after turning 80 because you are now a liability.

You post made me consider this, but not for the reasons you may have thought.

If you take a risk life could suddenly end. At 79 I would probably just stay in the pool.
