A 43-year-old woman from Surin was rescued after threatening to jump from a fourth-floor hotel balcony in Pattaya, following severe emotional distress linked to a failed relationship with a foreign partner. The incident prompted an urgent response from police and rescue workers, who successfully intervened before any injuries occurred.

The incident was reported at 11.20am on 30 January, when Pattaya City Police received an emergency call about a woman attempting to jump from a height. The incident occurred at a hotel near the Grand Hall Market in Soi Buakhao, South Pattaya, Chonburi province.

Police coordinated with officers and volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Foundation in Pattaya and rushed to the scene. On the fourth-floor balcony, they found a woman identified as Mrs Bang-on,  aged 43, sitting on the edge with her legs hanging outside the building.

Witnesses said she appeared extremely distressed, crying uncontrollably and speaking incoherently, creating fear among onlookers. Her condition suggested she was under intense psychological pressure and at risk of harming herself.

Police officers and rescue volunteers carefully secured the area and began negotiating with the woman. They spoke calmly, offered reassurance and encouraged her to regain control of her emotions, continuing their efforts for more than 20 minutes.

Eventually, Mrs Bang-on calmed down and agreed to step back inside her room safely. The situation was resolved without any injuries to the woman, officers or members of the public.

Initial questioning revealed that Mrs Bang-on had recently begun a relationship with a foreign man. She later discovered that he already had a partner, despite previously asking him directly whether he had a family or loved one.

The discovery caused her deep disappointment and emotional pain, leading to overwhelming feelings of betrayal. These emotions were compounded by anxiety about her health, including fears that she might have contracted a sexually transmitted disease.

She also expressed a belief that she had been affected by black magic through items or food given to her by the foreign man. This combination of emotional distress, health concerns, and personal beliefs led to accumulated stress and her decision to attempt suicide. Authorities ensured the woman was safe and provided immediate support, while advising appropriate follow-up care.

Police confirmed that the incident would be monitored to prevent further risk. Officials emphasised the importance of mental health support for individuals experiencing emotional crises. Police and rescue services urged members of the public to seek help promptly when facing severe stress or psychological distress.

The second photo tells a story. Two Thais on scooters wearing helmets. One foreigner......no helmet.

The Thais must have been debt collectors.....

The locals hardly shine when it comes to wearing helmets. These days it is getting rare to see any of the 3+ riders on a motorcycle wearing a helmet!

Younger generations are far, far too sensitive.

Best to reserve committing suicide for something with much more gravity than a broken romance.

What is the story that was told?

Looks like he is on a mobility scooter and not a bike.

"Mrs Bang-on had recently begun a relationship with a foreign man. She later discovered that he already had a partner..."

Maybe the farang found out "Mrs" Bang-on already had a brother husband.

The only thing that matters is that she is safe and will likely recover and hopefully get over the guy, and have a good life. I fully understand being distraught and feeling like life is not worth living. That was what I was like 13 years ago. But then I came to Thailand and found that there WAS a life worth living. Yes, I was in the worst shape of my life, and one choice made all the difference. In my case the choice was to not give in, but to jump into the crucible and hope for the best. Hopefully she will get some good psychiatric help.

Is there any sort of psychiatric program for suicidal types? Just talking to her for a few minutes is hardly adequate. Those who fail often repeat attempts

cheesy ............................... I hope she gets the help she obviously needs

Many Thai ladies in relationships with foreigners find it difficult to deal with the fact that their personal ATM has actually run out of money.

When "rescued" in reality means that she was removed from the public scene of drama and probably being sedated for the moment before delivered back to the domestic scenario that instigated her despair. More important in comparison is the sedative effect on the social community's assurance that life in general is normal and her situation is an unnatural deviation in terms of coping with expectations of existence.

No one is going to fix all your problems.
