Nah out here in the villages you are responsible for your own - 380 baht for a meter-

We have a meter connected to the village supply for our residential block but stopped using it 10 years ago because when they back-flushed the filter system they didn't bother flushing it clean before turning the output on again resulting in dirty water, silted pipes and stuck meters. I took it off and reversed the connections to blow out the crap a few times after being told if it gets stuck have to pay for a new meter. My wife's niece's village supply stopped - the half inch supply is obviously silted up, and is now under lots of concrete road - the guy responsible said "cannot do". The stop cock is now broken and the pipe weeps slightly. I connected their house to our deep well dual tank and pump system, after rodding all their pipes.

As yours is encased in concrete (why do most Thai constructions go for permanence rather than consider potential repairs?) I guess all you could do is unscrew the top glass to get at the gears to give it a clean.

A quick update.

The meter man usually comes on the 10th, no bill yesterday or today (11th).

Today I did notice that the meter glass had been wiped somewhat so evidently the man had actually been.

No note or anything of course.

Madam contacted PWA on their Line account and sent them a photo of the last bill.

A nice lady called and said they had noticed that the meter was busted and were sorting out a replacement, "sometime soon" we would get "a paper" informing us when.

Actually pretty good service, but a note in the post box would have been nice.

I’d be filling the pool immediately.

If you don’t have one yet, grab a shovel - time’s wasting!

Already done, vacuumed all the carp to waste and topped off.

Try moving the gauge numbers with a strong magnet ?

They look like plastic.

I'm not trying to diddle anyone, it's not like water is expensive, and all the garden watering is pumped from the river.

Or maybe try to brush around with caution if the meter is brass, with a heat source around the meter and it could un stick the dials that could be blocked by humidity ?

We went to the local PWA office yesterday to report the stuck meter again (Madam insisted). Paid 226.84 Baht.

Man came today, with his trusty tool-bucket and a massive smile.

10 minutes later and we have a shiny new meter. Painless.

^ Well that’s the water resale empire finished before it even IPO’d. Back to moderating full-time then 😉

Well, today we received a bill reminder from PWA, for exactly the amount we paid on the 16th!

Madam had been warned this might happen, it seems that PWA's systems are stone-age, she was told to ignore it.

Hopefully they won't come and cut us off.
