Trump Criticizes US Olympic Skier Hunter Hess as 'Real Loser'

Trump lashes out at skier's comments on representing the US

Donald Trump has taken to Truth Social, branding US Olympic halfpipe skier Hunter Hess a “real loser” after Hess expressed conflicted feelings about representing the United States. At the Winter Olympics in Milan, Hess, 27, remarked that while he wears the US flag, he only does so if it aligns with his moral values. He highlighted issues within the country that he and others find concerning.

Trump responded emphatically, questioning why Hess would compete if he felt such disconnection from the nation. He stated, “Very hard to root for someone like this. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

The incident has sparked a divisive response. Some have sided with Trump, criticizing Hess’s remarks as anti-American and suggesting he should not represent the US if he feels this way. One user commented, “You shouldn’t be representing the U.S.A. if you hate it here.”

However, Hess's comments have ignited broader discussions about the relationship between athletes and political issues. Another freestyle skier noted the reluctance among athletes to voice their political views but emphasized the importance of respecting citizens’ rights and addressing domestic challenges.

This episode highlights the ongoing tension between sports and politics, as athletes navigate their personal beliefs while representing their countries on the world stage. The discourse underscores the complexities involved in national representation amid broader societal debates.

Key Takeaways

  • Trump criticizes Olympian Hess over his views on US representation.

  • Hess admitted feeling conflicted about wearing the US flag.

  • The situation sparks broader debate on politics and sports.

Good on Hess for standing up to toxic, corrupt, corrosive, morally bent power. Trump has made America far less great. He does this daily. Hess is showing courage and that is admirable. Trump is a pig,

Good on Hess for standing up to toxic, corrupt, corrosive, morally bent power. Trump has made America far less great. He does this daily. Hess is showing courage and that is admirable. Trump is a pig, and most of the world understands that. And he is such a pathetic victim and snowflake he can't handle any criticism. So, who is the real pussy here? Trump couldn't ski down a mountain to save his own life.

Well said Mike.

Hess is representing his Country NOT his barmy President or the idiotic Republican Party.

Hess wants to be clear about that and well done him !

"... a real loser..."!

Let's hope these words come back to haunt him.

I like to keep politics out of sports.

I don't think the average sports fan gives a damn and wants to hear the political opinions of these athletes.

If this guy doesn't feel comfortable wearing the American flag on his uniform and wants to bash America, I still think that he should be allowed to compete, but I hope he loses.

I have very little patience for these spoiled athletes who want to criticize America and do not appreciate the men and women who gave their lives to allow these spoiled brats to have the freedom to criticize America.

I agree with Trump. These idiots like Hess and Megan Rapinoe are spoiled brats, a disgrace to the nation.

If they don't love their country get off the team and let a patriot take your place. Stay home or go to Palestine with your LBGT flags and see how that works out you clowns.

Yes, I agree with Hunter Hess. It’s very uncomfortable being identified as a US citizen while Trump’s in the White House. :(

How does criticizing US politics equate 'not appreciating the people who fought for freedom'? Or 'bashing the US'?

And why does his opinion make him a loser? Let alone the US president not standing for his people, but that's to be expected.

Higgott pretends he doesn't understand the word IF in "Pedantry shocker".

Need to decide if you want to be politician or athlete. Im disgusted with the Sports World and Entertainment World wanting to use their venue as a springboard for their personal political views.

If you have anything to add is that based on the actual comments made by Hunter Hess, let’s hear them.

Though I admit, it’s a big if.

You need to decide if the first amendment applies or does not apply.

Of late we are not hearing much ‘I might disagree with what you say, but would defend to my death your right to say it’.

Trump and his supporters, foreign and domestic, really do not like the idea of free speech unless it’s sucking up to Trump.

He is very disgusting and a disaster for the USA.

So you don’t have any evidence to back your claim I wanted the video removing.

You made an obviously false assertion, you lied.

Now you want to engage in some alternative reality where Trump needs my permission to post stuff online.

Are you quiet well?
