Trump Criticizes US Olympic Skier Hunter Hess as 'Real Loser'

You need to decide if the first amendment applies or does not apply.

He said something stupid and Trump disagreed. Nobody's been sent home or gone to jail. How has the First Amendment been violated?

If you're going to give him a platform, don't you have to give Trump one, too? Or is he supposed to sit there and take it?

Good on Hess for standing up to toxic, corrupt, corrosive, morally bent power. Trump has made America far less great. He does this daily. Hess is showing courage and that is admirable. Trump is a pig,

Pathetic from the Idiot in Chief.

Kudos to those athletes willing to speak out but I wonder what they will face when they go home. Stephen Miller & Co??

So you don’t have any evidence to back your claim I wanted the video removing.

You made an obviously false assertion, you lied.

Now you want to engage in some alternative reality where Trump needs my permission to post stuff online.

Are you quiet well?

You claimed it was racist which means to any normal person it should be taken down. Are you ok? I don't think so.

Yes it was racist.

I didn’t say it should be taken down.

Why would I, it had already been taken down before I commented.

So you are happy with "racist" videos being put up again. Thanks I will remember that. You are now a racist.

Bingo.

Trump only cares about Trump.

He is very disgusting and a disaster for the USA.

Any sportsman with half a brain would say positive things. DeNiro is now hated by 50% and has to employ more security. A smart lefty would say nothing and move in silence - The Art of War. Maybe the left never read it. So many lefty idiots these days.

I was right to concerned.

There’s something awfully twisted in your thought processes.

When did I say I was happy with racist videos being put again?

Or are you lying again?!

So you can't make up your mind on the issue. You sound really confused. Either you support the removal or you don't. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Which is it?

How does criticizing US politics equate 'not appreciating the people who fought for freedom'? Or 'bashing the US'?

And why does his opinion make him a loser? Let alone the US president not standing for his people, but that's to be expected.

It doesn't, and it's nothing but fake bravado, fake patriotism, simpleton nationalism, and flag waving nonsense. It reminds me of the idiots who used to drive around in their cars with flags hanging out during the Iraqi War.

Silencing your critics, or critics of US policy, as the circus goon is attempting to do, is not a sign of strength, it's a sign of weakness, it's not a sign of freedom, it's a sign of repression, and it's not a sign of democracy, it's a sign of fascism.

Some people can think for themselves. That may come as a shock to people who swallow the MAGA line.

Hess was asked a direct question. He answered honestly. That is called "courage", something also absent in the MAGA world.

See, Americans have this little thing called the 1st Amendment. Trump hates it, because it gives all Americans the RIGHT to speak freely. Hess spoke freely.

Butt hurt Trumpers cannot accept actual freedom. They cannot accept that a person may have concerns about official policy or actions taken by an Administration, despite that being a RIGHT put down by the Founders 250 years ago in the very first Amendment to the US Constitution, which went one better than the Magna Carta, by taking away the right to be above the law just because of birth.

You are welcome to worship your monarch and grant him papal-like infallibility. No American is obligated to do that to whomever sits in the Oval Office. We Americans are above that anachronism. So were America's Founders, who believed no one should be worshiped simply because they have the "great achievement" of being born. Respect and adoration must be earned. Apparently you and your ilk disagree with what many humans now understand is a basic human right.

I do not know Hess' views on Palestine or gay rights, but that sure seems kind of silly to bring up in a thread about free speech.

Who silenced anyone? He said something dumb, and Trump disagreed. That's the way political discourse works.

He did not say "something stupid". He was asked his opinion of the political situation in the US, and he gave an honest answer.

Trump is just a thin-skinned crybaby who demands worship. Too bad for him the Founders gave all of us the right to say whatever we choose.

The real "loser" is Trump, who already has the world's largest platform, but hates that anyone else might take a tiny piece of that platform. That show weakness, which is a quality that defines Trump.

Blah blah blah...total loser....bad ratings....low IQ: Crybaby Trump.

Breaking News

Trump has suggested that the US athletes would best represent America by being not older than 15 years old. He added, "If they were on the younger side I would go and personally wish them the best of luck in their changing rooms."

White House staff frantically added, "Look, Iran is really begging for our intervention."

How democratic of you. Smh.

It was just a mirror up to a guy holding British passport and being a staunch critic of Britain. Or a "spoiled brat and disgrace to the nation" as he puts it. So maybe he should just give that away and let a patriot take his place.

Also note you're talking about democracy while going all out to support a man who trampled on free speech, rights and freedoms of his country's citizens, uses threats of lawsuits to shut up opponents, violates constitution and openly calls for elections to be cancelled. Very democratic, Sir.

Fortunately, I don't think that most Americans agree with your opinion that appreciating and recognizing the sacrifices that people made defending their country is fake bravado, fake nationalism, fake patriotism, and simpleton nationalism, but your entitled to your opinion!

If this guy doesn't feel comfortable wearing the American flag on his uniform and wants to bash America, I still think that he should be allowed to compete, but I hope he loses.

I have very little patience for these spoiled athletes who want to criticize America and do not appreciate the men and women who gave their lives to allow these spoiled brats to have the freedom to criticize America.

The athlete was not bashing America. On the contrary, he was expressing his admiration for the good in America. He is reported to have said Just because I'm wearing the flag doesn't mean I represent everything that's going on in the U.S.” Hess said he's skiing for his friends, family, and “all the things I believe are good about the U.S.”

Hess, represents the views of a majority of US citizens in that he wants to to represent the good things about the USA. Nothing wrong with that, and in fact he is the one who is keeping politics out of sports. It is Trump who is injecting politics into this. Its the Trump budget that cuts funding for school basic physed and athletic programs. Athletes are raised at the school level. It is where they fall in love with a sport.

The saddest part of this needless attack, is that Hess is well liked by his peers and is described as a kind and respectful person, an all around decent guy. He deserves better than to have Trump's bullying.

Donald Trump has taken to Truth Social, branding US Olympic halfpipe skier Hunter Hess a “real loser”

Targeting the 2022 Beijing Olympics, his dreams shattered due to a torn MCL followed by emergency appendicitis surgery just before his return to snow.

Rather than quit, Hess rebuilt, posting consistent results: bronze at X Games Aspen in 2024 and 2025, plus seven career podiums including seconds at Aspen (January 2026) and Copper (December 2025), and third at Secret Garden, China.

https://southhillenterprise.com/who-is-hunter-hess-bend-skiers-emotional-road-to-the-2026-winter-olympics/

Torn MCL and appendicitis? What a sissy!

It's not like he had to deal with the inconvenience of bonespurs and the anguish of shirking his duty when his country called.

What a looooooooooooser!

One can only compare the careers of George Foreman and John Carlos to see what disrespecting your country at the Olympics means.

He is entitled to say what he wants, and anyone is entitled to call him a jerkoff for it. I have no idea who the guy is anyway. But I wont buy anything he endorses

Need to decide if you want to be politician or athlete. Im disgusted with the Sports World and Entertainment World wanting to use their venue as a springboard for their personal political views.

Entertainment World? You do not know Trump was on some scripted reality program "The Apprentice"... for some that was 'entertainment'.... previously he was only known to a smaller populace for grifting, redlining, racist full page ads calling for execution of later exonerated black men, etc etc

He got his brand known via entertainment industry. Think before posting this sort of nonsense.

Besides, as Americans, anyone can use their venue to express their views. Check out the Constitution, bill of rights, article one

So what happens when Trump is booooooed at the FIFA World Cup, where the head of state of the host country is required to appear at the opening ceremonies?

And then again when the trophies are handed out, will he refuse to shake the hands of any athaletes from poophole countries?

Poolhole countries? Sad that the condescending from dear leader is affecting his subjects.

But chances are, athletes from the poophole countries will refuse to shake his hands.

Not to worry. Bud Light and Jaguar are seeking him out. NOT!

All he had to do is follow Chico Escuela's example, and he'd have quadrupled his earning potential.

You might have assumed I was referring to the Jesse Owens affair and the Austrian painter, but you would be misteaken.

Following the Olympics, athletes were traditionally sent to the White House to receive praise from the president, as a form of thanking them for upholding American athleticism; however, Black athletes were not invited to the gathering in 1936. As Owens noted, “Hitler didn’t snub me. It was (Roosevelt) who snubbed me. The president didn’t even send me a telegram.”

Hmm, my, "patriotism" is most certainly linked to following trump, his policies/actions and certainly not his words. I wear my hat celebrating my country's 250 year Revolution which over a dozen of my forbears are documented as helping bring into being. No one gets to define my American citizen standing as I vehemently denounce the being that is trump.
