Mobility Disorder Specialists / Physiotherapists for PD

Featured Replies

Hi,

It might be a long shot but I wondered if anyone can recommend a Neurologist and/or Physiotherapist specializing in the treatment of patients with Parkinson´s here in Bangkok.

I am aware of the Center of Excellence at Chula with their Parkinson´s specialists but when I spoke to them they were very clear and open in the way that they said "What isn´t it the official guidelines we don´t follow or like to discuss". It might not have been the exact wording but the message was clear. And I don´t criticize that approach at all. Mind you, apart from the standard treatment approach, I am particularly interested in more "experimental" approaches as a complimentary treatment. When I asked about "wellness devices" such as photobiomodulation/red light therapy (like Symbyx Biome, the Beech Band etc etc) I got the above "It´s not in the guidelines" response. When I asked if they could recommend a colleague who is also looking into those complimentary/experimental approaches they, as expected, said "No, we don´t know any of our colleagues doing this."

Well, if they don´t know, maybe the wisdom of this forum does. Do you happen to know some doctor/neurologist focusing on PD who has a more "holistic" approach to the treatment of the condition? From red-light, to beech band to supplements and god knows what else is out there? If so, I´d be delighted to hear from you.

As for the Physiotherapist: Anyone you have had positive experience with (in the treatment of PD)?

Thank you!

DUS

Dus sorry for your horrible condition.

I don't know about Thailand but I was in a hospital accommodation with a PD person who was in a horrible way, couldn't even get into her wheelchair.

She had this brain operation and her husband said she completely lost the PD symptoms, twas like a miracle.

That was a few years ago and don't know if she's still OK but that could be another avenue to explore.

I guess you are referring to DBS (deep brain stimulation). Yes, it is scary but fascinating, often yielding impressive results.
